Im using a portable air conditioner from Home Depot now, thanks to these experts. They kept trying to upsell me on a brand new $13k unit, when I kept telling them mine was working fine; that is until they worked on it. After spending a grand to fix my ac, which was working but kept turning off randomly, now it does not cool at all. Thanks guys, worst customer service ever but at least now I have a 50cent flashlight with their name on it to remember them by. NOBODY WANTS YOUR $13k AC

The two technicians were very professional and answered all my questions explain to me how this new unit would work. When I purchased my house 5 years ago I had issues with my AC unit. I called a company who told me I needed a new unit immediately. I made a call to service first just for a second opinion. They assured me all I needed was the unit charged and instead of a 10,000.00 bill it was around 200.00. I have used them many times since.Last night my AC stopped working and I called Service First. Not only did they respond at night in the middle of a heat advisory, they arrived within 90 minutes with a team. In another 90 minutes I was up and running. I am older with medical conditions and have 4 dogs I was concerned about. ADRIAN was my absolute hero. Not only was he the most professional repair person to ever visit my house he went so above and beyond to assure my comfort in the heat to include washing my vent covers. Please beware this company does lie and scam you about the services that are being preformed . We were told we would need a pull and clean coil cleaning and when I asked the initial rep he said it’s a minimum of 2 hour as the parts would need to dry before putting back in place . so imagine my surprise when the gentleman who came to do the service was letting me know that the ac was working in less than 30 min of work. When we asked how this was possible he stated it just depends on the work experience level and he been doing this 10 years . I didn’t want to argue but I let my husband know that evening I didnt think he did the job correctly and I felt that he preformed an in place cleaning not a pull and clean. When we called the company to inquire they had the rep call us directly and let us know he did the job but like hello he would not admit To not doing it. When we called the company back saying we didn’t believe him as he’s been dishonest once the customer service rep was beyond rude to my husband. she was argumentative kept insisting we were lying when we told her the time line didn’t match up to how long that service takes. she even laughed at my husband and said “ oh my god” as if it was funny to her. He told her what’s funny about me paying for a service I didnt receive and she said “what do you want me to do cry about it” . my husband told her he had text from the workman saying the coils never went outside instead of asking for a screenshot to be emailed she continued to say he was lying . It took him going in person to be taken seriously and only got half a refund after being treated so badly . I’m lucky I caught what they we’re trying to pull on us but I feel bad for people who are not as observant. See photos of cleaning they took clearly inside units and not pulled out and cleaned

First I want to say, that it is VERY refreshing to have amazing and professional customer service. Joshua was knowledgeable,flexible and eager to find the source of the problem. Joshua went above and beyond with his visit by educating us on future possible complications and how to prevent and maintain our AC in the future. He was patient and polite during his entire visit and this alone has all my future business.I called and requested a quote and was able to get ballpark figures before a tech was requested. Though the rates are a little higher than other competitors, I will still go with company and refer everyone I know based on my interactions with this business.The tech was sent and arrived within 30 minutes at 7pm at night! Now thats fast, convenient, and well worth the price in my opinion.I have done business with other Google trusted AC repair companies (look at me prior reviews) and they were terrible. So I really mean it when I say this was a great experience.
Let me preface this review by saying that Im a small business owner. I would never leave a poor review for a company out of spite, our anger. Im writing this review honestly, and Ill do my very best to do it tactfully.I decided to give these guys two stars to acknowledge that the representative who visited my shop was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, their communication, administration, and extended customer service proved to be terrible, and actually put my small business at financial risk.We have an older AC unit and it needed to be topped off with R22. First, Ill say that this companys pirce for R22 was about 15% more expensive than other businesses I talked to. Because they were able to get to me immediately, I calculated that to be the surcharge for convenience. During the course of maintenance I discussed replacing our air conditioning unit with Service First. We made an agreement that the nearly $800 check I was writing them for R22 refrigerants would be held for a period of one month, so we could discuss the prospect of replacing the system altogether. I did not ask for them to hold the check, they offered. They indicated that they would apply some of the payment towards the new system if we moved forward.I contacted Service First about a week later asking for them to send over a quote on a new system, and confirming that they were indeed holding the check for 30 days. Two days later I got a notification from my bank that my checking account was overdrawn, and saw that they had deposited the check without any notification, or ever sending me a quote for additional work. Had we been notified that they were going to deposit the check we could have made the appropriate arrangements, but since there was no communication at all it caused us a lot of problems, and expense. To say we were disappointed would be a gross understatement. Our debt is paid to this company, and weve cleaned up the mess they left us with, but I assure you I would never do business with them again. If you value integrity, communication, and competency, I suggest you find someone else to work with.My shop has been using George Best for years. We decided to give Service First a shot because they were available, and are actually located in our neighborhood. I love doing business with local companies, and I was hopeful that the experience would be a positive one. It wasnt. We made a mistake. Im leaving this review in the hopes it will help someone else avoid the same mistake.
I called late in the afternoon around 3 and they had some one at my house by 5:30. Which was completely unexpected I didn’t think I’d be able to get seen that fast. The techs name is Daniel and he was super nice. He came in diagnosed the problem on both the units I have and had air on for me by 7. Having been without ac in the heat here in Texas being able to get air that quickly was incredible. He gave me advice on a couple things and left. I spent a little money but it was completely worth the money and I’m sooo glad I called! I’ll be using them in the future!
Our A/C went out yesterday, and after waiting on our original contractor who no showed us (Airtron 😡) , Service First Showed up in 30 mins ! Sebastian was able to diagnose the problem efficiently !! He had all the parts he needed on his truck and was able to fix us up right away. He installed a hard start kit to ease the strain on the unit too. He was done right at an hour. Excellent service, would recommend to anyone needing an A/C company. Sebastian was awesome and so professional ! 5 stars and 10/10 service!!
I was charged a $129 mandatory residential service trip fee, I was given a window of 11 am-1 pm and the technician arrived at 2 pm. If I pay a compulsory service fee, I expect them to be on time. They do not waive the fee with a repair like many other companies do which is disappointing. My capacitor needed to be replaced and they charged me $389 for an $89 part then I also had 1.5-2 pounds of R410A freon added to my system and they charged me $125 per pound, thats insane... I wont be using them again and recommend you look elsewhere, I spoke to a friend after I had my repair done and he recommended Goettl and Ill try them next if any issues arise. I ended up paying them over $700, I will note that Sebastian their technician was knowledgeable and friendly but their prices are ridiculously high and their trip fee is unnecessary, especially with a repair.
Great experience with Marcos, Javier, and Alex- Wednesday morning I noticed dripping noises coming from my AC unit and thought the drain system might have a blockage. When I was finally had time to call Service First later that afternoon, they were able to schedule a technician to come out right away that evening. In fact, they even reached out to see if I was free and interested in a technician dropping by earlier than scheduled (an offer I appreciated but wasnt able to make work). When Marcos arrived, he got to work testing the system and determined that my unit had frozen over because it had been leaking freon. He checked for leaks then loaded it with more freon to test the pressures and from all that it appeared that my TXV valve needed to be replaced. He told me the addition of freon would be a temporary measure to keep the AC working while he checked with the office for parts and availability to schedule a repair. On Friday, he reached out again to give me a quote for the valve replacement and also mentioned that if I was interested they could also quote me for replacement of my entire unit, which was 13 years old. I decided to have the whole unit replaced, as it had started making noise each time it switched on and still ran on the old R22 freon which is no longer easily available in the US. They were able to schedule replacement of the unit right away and came by a few hours later to replace everything. Javier, the lead installer, and Alex, his assistant did a great job dismantling the old unit, installing the new one, and cleaning everything up in the span of a few hours. They frequently updated me on what they were doing, tested everything thoroughly, and made sure to explain the new system to me before they left.I honestly wasnt expecting them to be available so quickly, especially now that the weather is getting warmer. I was very pleased with the prompt and professional service and will definitely be a returning customer the next time I need my AC or plumbing serviced.
This company saved us big time. Our AC went out in the middle of night before our sons birthday party we were expecting 30+ people at 11am and it was 86 degrees in our house. I called at 8am and they were out and had it fixed by 10:30, 30 minutes before the party started. They did an amazing job and were so quick on a Sunday.
My wife and I own a small personal training studio and our AC stopped blowing cold air. We were so worried about having to call a company to repair the unit because you never know who you can trust. However, Service First sent out Rolando and he identified the problem (some damaged wires) and got everything repaired within an hour! No upsales, no Youll need a whole new system for $8K nonsense. It was an easy fix, and he got it done in an honest and quick fashion. As a small business, every dollar counts, so its awesome to know that we have a trustworthy company nearby for our AC maintenance and repair needs.

The baby woke us up earlier than normal and we realized that the house was HOT! Apparently our AC unit had decided to stop working on us overnight. We looked online for a few places to call and the first couple places only would be able to come in 2-3 days! Service First answered the phone fast and were available fast. We had a tech at our home within just an hour and half of us calling. The service fee was more than the other places; but like I said, they werent available.Adrian came out and was fantastic. He was very polite, thorough, efficient and found the problem and had the part to fix it. Our capacitor went kaput. The repair and part is under warranty for a year. He made sure that our Freon system was leak free and that the unit was cooling efficiently before he left.The company also provided a military discount out of respect to veterans and service members; which is greatly appreciated.I would choose Service First again to service the system.

This company is awesome! They were actually the second company I called, the first company claiming to be 24hrs said they couldnt come until Monday afternoon. One night without ac wasnt bad but I couldnt imagine suffering the whole weekend in this Texas heat. I called Service First Friday night at 9pm and Adrian arrived promptly at 10 am Saturday. My husband and I were impressed by how professional and knowledgeable Adrian was. He fixed our issue in no time and the costs were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend Service First!

These guys are awesome. My wife and I purchased our first home two weeks ago and get to experience the joys of home ownership and fixing everything the previous owners left behind. Marcos was my AC tech and he was phenomenal, personable, and did a great job explaining everything. I then had to replace the water softener, and Angel was my plumber. Angel was beyond professional and patient while I went back and forth between Home Depot getting fittings, hoses, and the unit itself. Angel was awesome!!! Prices are also the most competitive on the market for the quality of service provided. AND THEY ARE 24/7!!!! What isn’t to like?
If you value your life and the safety of your family I would choose ANY other AC company. We hired them last year to replace a broken unit and were happy they came out asap! That’s the only thing that went right. Their technicians were foul mouthed, using expletives and making inappropriate jokes in my home. I thought “not so professional, but as long as they get the job done.” After install, they had to be called out 6 more times to finish the job. Not because of their due diligence, but because we noticed things were not completed. Then we started smelling a very noticeable gas smell and called them again, this time they sent a supervisor. He told us that’s normal and we need to get used to it. Suffice to say I knew it wasn’t normal and hired a new company. Sure enough, they came out and were extremely alarmed at the way our systems were set up, showing us 4 different gas and fire issues that were not up to city code. He was amazed our house hadn’t caught fire yet, immediately turned off our gas/furnace and is returning with the proper tools to fix it. We submitted complaint after complaint to Service First in an attempt to work it out with them but they will just bandaid your unit and put you in danger before doing the right thing.
Our ac turned off randomly in the middle of the day, and they answers our call quickly and came within 40 mins. Daniel was very respectful and honest with the work. It wasn’t super crazy expensive either. Worth the price with the quality customer service. Will definitely call the company back for more assistance with any issues that may come up again with our ac. Even with calling the customer service they were super honest and helpful.
Amazing company. Rudy arrived at 9:00 PM and patiently explained the issue with my AC and my options. It was 98 degrees in my house. The next morning Johnny and Javier arrived with a new system. I am most impressed by how highly the technicians spoke of the owner. This is a sign of a great company. Treat the employees great and they will treat customers great. It was well over 110 degrees in the attic. Johnny and Javier never complained. They even kept a great attitude while they worked through a technical issue. In less than 24 hours, and a completely new central air system later, I am sitting in my 73 degree house. I am more than satisfied, I am impressed.
Took care of the issue. Unfortunately did a terrible job communicating about all the charges. Sent a bill to a wrong email and back charged it anyways after I approved of the invoice #2 I actually received. I was billed for an hour and half of that was the guy driving to our place of business and the other half was him telling us nothing could be done that day. Customer service was extremely terrible and offered to just resend the invoices when that was not even the issue. We approved an invoice that didn’t even include the rest of what they were charging, and that additional charge was for physically driving to us and not doing anything.
Received great service from Rolando! Called the day of after my heater stopped warming up my home and was told they could have someone over after 5. Got a call a few hours later saying they could have someone at my place earlier than that. Once Rolando showed up, he was able to figure out the issue (a broken part, unfortunately) and got everything working again within the hour. Very professional and he explained everything to me every step of the way. Appreciate all the help!
What an amazing company. We have had them install two new units in our home, one during the peak of summer heat and one during the latest winter freeze. Joshua, Javier and Alex are amazing. They were on time did amazing work and did not leave until we were 100% satisfied with the work that was done. At 2:59 or so, Mike A. was already waiting at my house ready to go by the time I showed up for our 3 - 5 appointment, a pleasant surprise. He was methodical and thorough, and he safely pinpointed the problem quickly. The prices were reasonable and installation of my disconnect box was quick; he gave me the price quote at 3:17 and had everything installed and tested by 3:40, and thats including the time it took for my a/c to start up again. Hopefully I dont have any a/c problems again any time soon, but Ill go for Service First the next time I do.
I have used Service First AC Repair for a very long time. My mother lives in San Antonio and they have always done a good job. Their pricing is always reasonable, their support is fast and i just love how focused they are on customer service. My mother also trusts them in the home and we have never had any issues. They are great.
The company is absolutely fabulous! After our AC went out on a Saturday afternoon and not getting a response from our home warranty company, we started calling around and couldnt get anyone on the phone. I called Service First at 930pm and an actual person answered. She took our information and said that they could have someone at my house between 800-1000 the next morning. I received a call at 730 Sunday morning stating they were on their way. The technicians showed up 20 minutes later and had the problem fixed within 15 minutes. They also advised us on a potential problem that would need to be fixed soon. I was most impressed with the fact that they did not try to upsell us on the potential problem. They only made us aware of it.This company has a quick response time . The technicians were courteous and respectful and the price was reasonable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an air conditioning company. They will be our first call for next time.
My AC quit working on Saturday evening. I called several 24/7 services. Service First was the only one that would come to my area that late. When Chris arrived he was very professional. He had my unit back up and running quickly. I was very happy with the responsiveness and service. I will certainly call on them again in the future.
Our A/C went out & I first called another company to come out & look at the unit. After being disappointed with the service & feeling like I was being lied to, I stumbled across a number for Service First whom I had great service in the past.Happy to have remembered they were who we dealt with before, I had reached out to Jack & he was out to see us within the hour. Jack was wonderful when we dealt with him in the past & again for this service call.It ended up we needed a new unit & Johnny was out to the rescue! I wondered if wed find anyone as honest & friendly as Jack & we absolutely did with Johnny. I just moved into a home, and of course the beginning of summer starts and my air conditioning system stops cooling. I come home from work to an 89 degree house. I tried flipping the breaker, and nothing worked. After searching google and seeing these wonderful reviews i called them. Christina answered right away, was very professional and so nice. She took all my information and gave me all of my options as far as service and payments. I did opt for them to come in after service hours, and it was reasonably priced at 129.99, and then Christina gave me a window of when the technician Adrian would come. Christina called me when Adrian was on the way. he arrived just as expected, had impeccable manners and was very friendly. Adrian checked my outside and inside units and was able to find the root of the problem, fix it and educate me on what I needed to do in the future to ensure my AC unit works smoothly. So, back in March 2017 my AC unit out. I got 6 quotes from various companies. I ended up choosing Service First Air for several reasons. Miguel and his team showed up next day and did a perfect install of my new unit. All was good and my family was happy. 3 days ago my new unit wouldnt cool my house, so I called them. Office staff is awesome and polite. They had Rudy out to my house within a hour, mind you I live in La Vernia, so they got to my house fast. Rudy immediately found that I had a major leak on my inside coil. He made some calls and within 3 hours Miguel and his team showed up with the new coil unit. Miguel had it installed and running within an hour. After he left, I noticed it was not cooling properly, so I called the office. Miguel than called me and said he was on his way back to my house. Once he arrived, he made some changes and now my AC is working like a champ.I highly recommend this company, they are polite, fast and the people know what they are doing.A big thanks goes out to the office staff and Miguel for ensuring my family was taken care last night.
My mother, Rose P, recently used Service First AC Repair, specifically Chris and Juan and was extremely satisfied with their work.
We have used Service First for all four years we have lived in our current home. The AC units we have are original and in their 14th year of heavy duty San Antonio use. This last Monday night the downstairs unit quit working. Tuesday morning I call Service First and I speak to Sam who tells me that they are running a skeleton crew due to the pandemic and someone should be out in 4 to 6 hours. Two hours later Sam calls again and informs me that Juan is on his way and should be at my home in 20 minutes. Juan has excellent customer service troubleshoots the system and yes our AC gave up the ghost. Juan provided multiple options such as repairing parts, or replacing the entire system with two different options. We selected the Ruud AC system and within 6 hours had the new system up and running. The two instillation techs also provided excellent customer service. The whole process was quick, painless, and well communicated to us. They provide excellent service for the cost. We always recommend Service First and continue to use them for our servicing needs and will use them for future repairs.
Service was great. The technician was extremely nice and he was fast too.He told me that the price to replace the condenser fan was $1,200, which I believed was a fair price (considering I am a woman, and I dont know much about AC). Of course the truth came letter when I did a research on the part he replaced and found out it only cost $240 dollars. I understand he had to pick up the piece from the distributor, and charge for labor. However I got charged $99 just to come to my house plus +$1,200 for the installation which took 20 minutes. It is still unreasonable to charge $1,099 for installation.
Called in the middle of the night, the dispatcher Tiffany was super pleasant and could arrange service within a few hours. Called back within minutes on a cancellation and had a tech out in 20 min. Service tech was kind and fixed our a/c within 30 minutes. I highly recommend, we are so thankful.
What incredible and amazing service! The staff on the phone and our incredibly professional technician Joesph communicated with us directly and honestly. He provided sensible and upfront immediate fixes I could accomplish on my own, and provided very reasonable estimates for possible future replacements. I selected this company solely on their reviews and I am incredibly glad I did. They didnt try to push unnecessary services on me, and treated me and my family with the utmost respect. Their outstanding technician even went as far to thank me for my military service prior to leaving. I am going to recommend them to anyone I speak with who is having AC issue.
Rolando was awesome. He listened to my concerns, inspected my system, found the issue, explained his findings, and fixed it the problem. Completed in approximately 45 mins or less. Earlier in the week I had another company come out, inspected my heating and A/C for approximately 2hrs. Not sure why he inspected A/C. After 2hrs he gave me two quotes to repair. $985.00 BAND-AID REPAIR AND $4500. TO REPAIR Iike new. This company was dishonest and attempted to rip me off.Thanks Service First and Rolando for caring your professionalism, and and your honesty.
Very impressed with the level of service that Ive received! Called late evening on Memorial Day and a tech was at my house within the time window they did would be there. He worked on my unit well into the night to get it working. A week later, the same issue occurred and they were able to get a tech out there on the same day and once again, within the time frame specified. The tech thoroughly diagnosed the issue, and being that the supply houses were closed, he was able to get the issue temporarily fixed to hold me over until he was able to get the part needed. Fast forward to this morning. I received a call that the tech was en route to pick up the parts needed and would be here to remedy the problem with the necessary parts to fix the issue. They stand by their work and have been an absolute pleasure to work with. Will definitely be using Service First for all my future AC issues!
Not only were they one of the few 24 hour AC that was actually open and answering their phone, they were the only one who was able to come by within 3 hours of my calling them. One place I called said they could come by in literally a week. You cant survive San Antonio without AC for a week in July. My house was 86° and my cats were becoming very lethargic. They got here almost 40min ahead of when they said they would be at about 930 at night and had phenomenal customer service despite the late hour. They were extremely thorough and knowledgeable about finding and fixing the problem. Within another 30min, my AC was fixed, running, and had already dropped the house 2°. They stayed an extra 10minutes after checking the vents and unit to make sure it was working properly. Very reasonably priced as well. I would definitely use them again.
After reading several reviews and calling companies for a quote to replace our complete AC and Heating system, we finally found a company that we feel will do an honest and professional job. We want to thank Service 1st Air Conditioning/Heating Company, and Sam for setting an appointment for us today. Omar came to our house within the scheduled time, he was very professional in explaining what options would best meet our needs. He is very knowledgeable and explained the different types of AC units we asked about. Omar thank you for your courtesy and for not rushing us to make a decision, as well as for working around our schedule to set up the new Ruud unit we decided to purchase. Omar is a great asset to Service 1st Air Conditioning/Heating Company. It is great to see a company still have great customer service as a priority and not just a dollar sign.
Had an issue with a house we just purchased with the heater not working. Called Service First and they were able to get someone out the same day. Omar arrived at the house really fast and was extremely patient with all the questions I asked about how our system worked. After solving the initial problem with our thermostat he did a thorough check of the rest of the system and prepared a report of items to plan on getting done in the near future. Very great service.
My AC stopped working out of the blue about 2 weeks ago. I saw an ad for Service First and, after reading the reviews, was skeptical. But they didnt lie. A repairman came out the same day, identified the problem, and within 30 minutes my AC was up and running. ALL of this for a competitive price, they really do stand by their name!
Javier with Service First installed a new Central Air unit in my home, and he did an excellent job! It didn’t take long at all, there was minimal interruption during the process, and he kept everything clean and orderly. I was super impressed! He knew what he was doing and I so appreciate it!
This place is top notch and just like their name Service First. Our A/C wasnt working anymore the first warm day of the year in San Antonio. We called this company and we had service from Mike A., Jever, Jimmy (new guy), and Omar. What an amazing crew we had today here all day from 11-7pm. This company is honest and they take pride and care in their work and customer service. Now we are comfortable in our home with a new A/C system much needed as our old was was 17 years old. I do not leave reviews light heartedly. But my experience with this company whom Ive used for the last 10 years have really turned sour. At first they were professional, courteous, and knowledgeable; they went beyond just service. This last time I used them everything was the complete opposite, rude, not on time, no follow through, and last but not least they just leave without fixing the ac and didnt talk to the anyone at the house before leaving.The house they serviced is my parents house and English is their second language. I live in Houston. For any house repairs needed my parents call me to find a company to come out. So naturally Im not in town when companies go do the service. Fortunately my siblings are in town. My siblings greeted them at the door and told them the issue. My siblings stayed and saw the repairman come and go, no big deal, all repairmen do that. What irked me was this technician did not communicate that he was leaving. My siblings called me and I called the company. The company said the technician completed his job and it was working. I assure you the ac was not working. It was stuffy and the thermostat read 89 degrees. They say its the thermostat issue now. I requested they come back out the next day when I will be there. The next day another technician came out and I asked where the technician from yesterday was and he said that technician is no longer with the company. Very odd. I proceeded to let this 2nd technician assess the ac and he came back saying its the thermostat broken. I asked if it was under warranty and he said yes. Naturally I said ok for them for them to replace it. They got the new thermostat the next day and the ac still didnt work. So they did more assessments and said its the circuit board and that lightning struck it. They showed me a fried circuit board. How or why the first technician or the second technician didnt catch that in the first place is beyond me. No way it just happened bc there has not been rain in a while. So they replaced the circuit board on the 4th day by now and the ac worked. (This had me thinking if the thermostat was ever the issue.) I left town before they installed the circuit board and my siblings took over.They bill me for 1500$: cost of circuit board (which they disclosed the price before hand 1000$) and the thermostat (which I fought on since they said it was under warranty 500$). I called them and said they lacked communication and just leave the job without saying anything or calling. They in turn said they had to deal with me and my siblings and there wasnt any consistency. The same could be said with the company sending out 3 different technicians for the one job. The bill is settled now but I will never use them again.10 years Ive been using this company. Never will I call this company again. They have really disappointed me. Not to mention they were rude, unable to diagnose properly, and extremely unprofessional.
Ive been treated so well by this company, I have nothing bad to say about them they check things and tell me what I need and I have the option to spend on. I bought a whole new ac and furnace with credit and they come and check my units regularly and every time they give me advice and recommend if I need anything else. Great people with lots of respect and knowledge and there to help anytime day or night. I called them at 2am once, my heater had quit working, with my elderly father in the house I had to find a company that would come out fast. A1 came out and were very courteous and repaired it quickly. I recommend them to everyone. Prices are reasonable as well.
First off, Service First was able to see me 30 minutes after I called. You dont get that kind of service from my experience. As soon as I made the appointment, I received a call about 10 minutes later informing me that Miguel, the technician, was on his way. Impressive!Once Miguel got here, he spent a lot of time educating me on the system, helping me understand through a logical thought process on how to test the system and identify the problem. He was very knowledgeable and looked at the system from multiple angles before coming up with his diagnosis. He got the system up and running and gave me the information I needed to make an educated decision on what to do with my heater in the future.Thanks, Miguel. This was a great first experience with Service First. You outdid yourself and really put Service First on the map as a trustworthy HVAC service provider. You deserve to be commended for all your hard work this winter without letting quality slip. You really do put the customer first.
I must say they were very quick and very friendly, able to have someone complete PM work same day. They ended up having to return to finish some work the first tech didn’t complete but overall I am happy with their work. Replaced a few problem wires and recommended some other service that would extend the life of my old system. Thanks for the friendly, prompt service and returning to finish the work.
Had terrible service with other ac businesses through my warranty company so was skeptical to deal with anyone honestly, but Javier and Alex really put me at ease and talked me through and showed me what they were doing. I felt confident that I wasnt being taken advantage of and was able to get my ac system back up and running. No longer do I need to wonder who I will call. Service First really helped me out during an A/C emergency. I had a leak that came through my ceiling and Sam sent someone out on a Sunday so I wouldnt go without A/C in July! They found that I had no float switch and installed one for free! They also discounted my service even though it was the weekend. They found that the coil was leaking and replaced it the next day. Great communication, prompt, and helped with financing! I would use this company again and recommend them to family & friends. Thank you!
LOVED THIS COMPANY! I called at 8:25am. JOSEPH arrived at my house at 9:00am. Took him a very short amount of time to figure out what was wrong. Did not try to get me to buy a whole bunch of stuff, only concerned about what I needed to know/needed to fix. It was fast, reliable, affordable, and exactly the experience I was hoping for. I will only call them for my AC needs now in the future. Honest companies are hard to come by now-a-days, and I think I have found one that I can rely on for good.
I finally found my AC company that I will stick with. Air conditioner wouldnt get my house temperature below 80 degrees for some reason -- noticed it yesterday. Called this morning at 9:00am and the technician was here by 2:00pm -- and the company checked with me in between to make sure all necessary coordination was done. All very friendly. The technician (Dennis Perez) was friendly and very knowledgeable. And get this -- he helped me understand the age of my system (18 years) and gave me an understanding of the likely need for a full replacement in a few years, but there was no hard sell for a replacement right now -- he was ready to fix what he could. And he did! Im sitting in a 76 degree house right now. Really appreciate not getting pressured to rush a big decision like a full replacement. If you need an A/C company, call this one and ask for Dennis!!
Service First was the only company available late at night when my AC went out -- everyone else was booked up, but they called me as soon as a technician was available, and right around the time they quoted me. Adrian was a fantastic technician, very knowledgeable and patient in understanding the problem and explaining things to us. Considering a late-night service call the fee isnt expensive, and the up-charge for parts and labor is fair with 24/7 work hours. Yes you might be able to get a part cheaper elsewhere or watch a Youtube video in an attempt to fix it yourself, but you sacrifice the quality from an experienced technician and fast turnaround service. I only had to wait a few hours for a fix at a crucial time when otherwise you might be waiting for days. The company is respectful, reputable, and puts ample warranties on parts to ensure that they care about their service. You get what you pay for, its an investment -- and a good one at that!

When we noticed an unusual smell in our house, we discovered the thermostat was not working. We called several HVAC companies to get estimates for repair but were met with sales pitches for $12,000 unit replacement. One company’s repair man with 20-years experience said our problem was so dire he couldn’t fix it and the only solution was replacement. I was in stunned, the answer can’t always be replace. I believed there had to be at least one company in the entire city who had the ability to repair it. I called Service First’s 24-hour number at 7pm and Chris came out within an hour. He listened to our needs and they repaired our unit within a day. They were knowledgeable, respectful and professional. We were glad they were able to FIX our problem, but most importantly, when I called out to the universe for a company with honesty and integrity, Service First AC Repair answered.
I wouldnt bother with any other ac service. The guys here are awesome . I called around 4pm and spoke with Sam on the phone and was able to get someone to replace the air handler the next morning and at a very reasonable and affordable price. Johnny technician that came out to do the work is great as well. Very respecful and straightforward. Answered all my questions and even talked me through each step he was doing. He even took the extra time and step to ensure my whole ac system was working efficiently before he left. Again these guys at Service First AC & Heating are absolutely amazing

Oh my goodness, after spending a night in heat and misery my Service First AC technician came and blew out my line, gave me a tune up, and checked all other components and didn’t leave until the a/c was coming the house off and temperature satisfactory to me. Professional and prompt for emergency AC repair, we used Elmers prior and they wanted to charge me over a grand for repairs not needed. I just had one loose wire on condensing unit. James made and kept his appointment in Rockport when others were no shows. He and his helper got to work right away. He quickly diagnosed an instilation error and fixed it. The charges were reasonable. I will use him again and recommend him to my friends who need any HVAC work.
Of course living in San Antonio during the summer is a crazy time for your AC to go out. I had contacted multiple companies who were wanting too much just to have someone come out to see what was wrong and was already booked for the day and would have to wait for tomorrow. I then contacted Service First and they were at my house with 45 mins from when I first called them. Dennis Perez came out and did an amazing job. He was very professional, efficient and was able to get my AC back up and running within an hour. He also double checked the entire system to make sure everything was running properly. I called because of a broken air conditioner, and they came immediately. Of the three different guys I met with, all were very professional, and courteous employees. Adrian took videos of the problem on the fan to show me, and was very helpful in explaining the problem. Johnny & Mike then came to replace the unit, and were also professional and extremely helpful. Well my AC was put in 8/13/13 and the owner Jack is great. I have my ac/heat serviced twice a year and his ac techs are great. Service first is the best. I had a few techs come out recent to check my ac and their names are Victor and Austin. They know their job very well. Jack has the best techs for his company. I will never use anyone else for my service. I highly recommend Service First Air Conditioning Heating to anyone. Last spring my home air conditioner died unexpectedly so I called Service First AC. Within a matter of a few hours, they arrived and provided me with options. In less than 1 day, they removed the old unit, installed a new unit, and helped me secure affordable financing with ZERO out of pocket expenses.About 15 months later, my unit wasn’t cooling so I called them. I knew my AC unit had a 10-year warranty for parts, but I was a little worried because my 1-year warranty for labor charges recently expired. After inspecting the unit, the technician (Santiago) informed me there was a freon leak – probably due to a manufacturer defect. Because the unit’s parts were under warranty, Santiago assured me there was no charge for the parts. He also recharged my unit with additional freon so my house would stay cool until the new parts arrived. To boot, the owners of Service First AC waived the labor charges because my unit was only a couple of months past the 1-year labor warranty!These guys aren’t kidding when they say “Service First” – They go above and beyond!

We had gotten a first estimate by another company who came out and told us a large part was needing to be replaced. We checked with Service First, and they could do the job for about a hundred bucks less. When we finally got the money, they came by to install it...turns out we just needed a smaller part that was less expensive, and some maintenance. We saved about 400 dollars by going with Service First. Omar did a great job. A/C and heat going strong a few weeks later!Well definitely be using you guys again. Thanks!

Our A/C went out on a Friday evening and of course most repair services are closed for the weekend. Luckily, we found Service First during a desperate Google search. I’m sure no one would argue with me when I say that August in San Antonio with no A/C is unbearable, but we were looking at the entire weekend without A/C if not for the availability of Service First.Their technician Adrian Lopez arrived in less than 2 hours from our call. At this point I must say that as a fellow technician (not A/C of course), I found that Adrian’s troubleshooting followed a clear and logical path to its conclusion. Adrian then explained which part went bad and how it occurs. He also explained how everything else appeared to be in good working order and that there were no other items that needed servicing. What I found most impressive is that Adrian had no idea that I was a technician, so at this point he could have suggested unneeded services that I may have purchased. I mean, how easy is it for an unscrupulous technician to say I needed Freon at this point?As long as they have technicians like Adrian, Service First will always have me as a loyal customer.

We had some condensation buildup due to the humidity recently and Joseph was honest about the necessary fix and explained the issue well. We had our A/C go out on Saturday afternoon. Our usual company is not open for business on the weekends. Found Service First that evening and scheduled a service call for Sunday morning. We received a phone call prior to arrival and technician arrived on time. The level of service we received was second to none. We had an amazing experience with our technician, Dennis. He was extremely knowledgeable, gave us a lot of information about our unit that the last company did not provide that will help us make an educated decision on the replacement of the unit. He took his time to explain and answer questions we had about our existing unit and future replacement models. Our Air conditioning stopped working late sunday night after 9 pm and they had someone out here within 30 min. On 8/29 my ac stop cooling the house, it was my compressor it was having intermittent issues. I was able to get our unit to run through the night. When morning came I started my search for an ac repair shop. I did a web search and I called Shafer first they had high reviews from previous customers. What I did not like was not being able to give me a min - max price based on my description of the problem. If you been in business for close to hundred years I would think that you can give me a window of what best/worst case scenario. That when I called Service First, the CSR on the phone pretty much did the same thing in not wanting to give me a price, so I framed my question in an example of taking a test, I do not know what the question will be but I know how I study for it, so at best I would expect a 100 at my worst a 90. That when he gave me a price range and so I met with their technician (Joshua) later that day (8/30. He was friendly and knowledgeable he explained that he could make the repair but it would cost close $3500, he said that because my ac was old (21 yrs) that the Freon would be very expensive base on how many pounds (4) I would need. Suggested that I would be better if I replaced it. I told him I was not the one he need to convince and so he waited for my wife to come home. He took the time to explain why it would be best to replace than repair our ac was old and soon it would be hard to get parts for it and breakdown will become more frequent which we had an earlier incident in July where ac would just blow hot air. He explained the different models and the benefits and so we made an informed purchase together. Joshua said that it would take about 5 hours to complete the job it was around 8 PM, my wife decline to have it done because she had to work in the morning and did not want to try and sleep in a hot house. So I was told that a technician would be here tomorrow (8/31) morning at 9 AM. The first Technician (Wally) arrived early 8:30 AM he was very friendly and eager to start, the second and lead technician (Hever) arrived later (9:30 AM). Wally had removed my outside unit and laid a new foundation that would support the new unit. Hever explained to me that he would have to make some adjustment for the new unit, it was bigger and required a little more room. They completed their work quickly and efficiently cleaned up and explained the features of our new thermostat (Nest). My wife loves them. On 9/25 our nest had an error E103 and the house was hot again. I get home from work and Joshua had already trouble shot the problem, my wife had called and said they were quick to come out to the house. Our nest was defective it had a short in it, Joshua replaced it with a temporary thermostat and said another technician will be out to the house tomorrow with our new nest. I received a phone call from the office letting me know that the technician (Marco) will be here between 3 & 5 PM, Marco arrived early and installed our new nest learning thermostat. My wife is happy so I am happy. I apologize for the long review and to the technicians who have come to my house I can be a bit long winded if you get me started talking. I would highly recommend Service First AC to anyone who is looking to repair or replace their ac unit. I appreciate their knowledge and professionalism as well as their friendly group of technician. Fast, competent, reasonably priced, personable.Our tech was Joseph -- he was friendly and knew what he was doing.Your initial reaction whenever buying something related to HVAC will be Oh my, that is expensive but after looking around, Service First was very competitively priced. In addition to that, I think their technicians bend over backwards to get the job done as soon as they can and do it right (which is rare these days).This was my first experience with them, but with that in mind I know who I am calling if I need anything else.
Omar, the guy who helped us, did an excellent job making sure our AC started working again. Another guy was with him in training I believe. Both super nice! Would totally want them to come back if our AC goes out in the future. Also, the two women I spoke to on the phone from the company were SUPER nice! LOVE THIS COMPANY! :D

The initial call was quick and to the point in scheduling an appointment, and the technician was timely and quick to assess the problem and give me a solution. The technician even tried to see if it was a cheaper fix than the part he originally thought would need to be replaced. I was happy with the service. I didnt feel that I had their best interest. They were late, outside the 2 hour window provided, and when they stated someone else was coming out to give an estimate in a replacement, they were also late outside that 2 hour window, do I cancelled the estimate. I was initially told between 8-10 for first service, showed up after 11. I was told the estimate person would show up by 1pm, did not call me until 215, and by that time, could not stay home to wait.
Best experience Ive had from any service company EVER! I had an A/C leak in my attic and called them at 4pm on a Saturday. Joseph was awesome. They arrived that evening and after assessing the situation, they let me know that my problem was actually a much smaller fix than I was expecting. What?! A company who doesnt want to overcharge me or sell me something I dont need?! Yes, its true... thats why Im going out of my way to promote them. I will only use Service First for all future HVAC needs and will make sure to recommend them to everyone I know.
This is my fourth HVAC company I’ve used since I’ve been living in San Antonio and this is my choice for AC servicing. Adrian (servicing technician) has serviced our unit on both outages. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and got the job done quickly. On both occasions within a 2 year period he pointed out the problem, gave recommendations, and repaired it in minimum time. I’m retired military and appreciate his professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction. This company gives military discounts which is a plus in my book.
I cant say enough great things about Jack and his team. I first contacted them this past summer when my AC was acting up and conked out on us. The issue was a minor one (bad capacitor) and was diagnosed and fixed in a very short period of time. Their quick response, honest assessment, and personable service automatically put them on my list as the people to call for any AC service needs. Well, two weeks ago we received a crazy high electric bill. Knowing we had been careful not to go crazy with the heater during this cold winter, we couldnt believe how high the bill was. Upon further inspection, we realized that the heating unit wasnt functioning properly (burnt out compressor) and for an entire month, our system was using the emergency heating function. Immediately we contacted Service First to come check it out. After looking at all the different options, they tried a few things to save us from having to replace the entire system (something called a jump start), but in the end nothing worked. We were either going to have to spend the $ to replace just the compressor on this outdated system, or replace everything. The service first team did a great job of explaining what the issues were and what options were before us in a way that was very easy to understand as a layman. At no time did we feel any pressure to go with more expensive options by any hard-sell tactics. Did I mention that the call I made regarding the compressor was on a Sunday late afternoon? By Tuesday night we had a completely new and working central air & heating system at a price within our budget.*Update: we had an issue with the thermostat that was installed. Horrible!My husband & I chose your company, because we trusted we were in honest, and good hands. We paid close to $300 for 2lbs of freon, & $175 for after hr fee. We were told that would keep us cool for 3 months- 3yrs, giving us time to save for a new unit. The house grew hotter, hours passed & with a newborn at 87 degrees she was sweating. We called back & Sam the owner answered. Expressed our concerns, while on the phone call he kept accusing us of lying about the freon, & asking us Do you have that in writing? I was appalled by the way an owner of a company would speak to us. After he was caught lying to us about how long freon last he began to ask did you get what i said that in writing? When my husband informed him we have home surveillance & he was on speaker he hung up on him, and called me.He finally sent a senior tech after giving me a million excuses why he spoke to my husband like that. The senior tech let us know we had a huge leak, and needed to replace the evap coil. Even after being ripped off with freon that was useless, we were willing to pay to have the coil changed with them. Sam stated he would have them call us & they never did.I had to finally gave in call another company, & purchase a $400 window unit to hold us over night! As i went to go pick up the unit i noticed the same guy next door. They had flagged them down because they seen these guys at our house.I called Sams cellphone that i saved (he must of forgot he called me from). Asked to speak to a owner/manger. He lied straight to me & said no they are not here im a dispatcher. I pretended not to know, & stated id call Monday morning. Shortly after Sam had his senior tech Joshua call me, he was kind and apologized. The sad part of all of this is that immediately Sam the owner called me (FROM HIS CELL, THE NUMBER HE ANSWERED AND SAID HE WAS DISPATCH) and state his senior tech said they should service our ac. He offered to send someone out Wed and then once in December... & never once did he as an owner apologize. He wouldnt even listen to my concern. We gave our business to will fix it.Sam, if you read this my husband & I werent asking for anything free, Didnt want extra services. We are out the $300 for useless freon, $400 window unit cause your tech didnt fix the issue, $99 for the new fee, plus $3000 for the coil replacement. All we wanted was what we paid for to do what we were told it would do, or to just pay for only what was really wrong. Not for any longer than the minimal. These are hard times, and being a new mother with a new born AC is important when its reaching over 100 degrees. Im sure if you have kids you know that. Appreciate your customers, they keep your company going.
These guys are awesome and I highly recommend them! Today was the second time Ive call on them for AC repair and the service is very quick and the techs are great! Very friendly and hard working. I called at 430 pm and after 20 min I got a call from the dispatcher stating a tech will be there shortly, I was blown away at how fast the tech showed up. Dennis (tech) was EXTREMLEY professional and explained the issue I had with my unit. reasonable pricing, very fast, and professional not only will I continue using them going forward but I will highly recommend their services to friends and families.
Fantastic customer service from this company. Our AC went out and they sent a technician out that day and got our unit blowing cold cold air. They even educated us about the air filter quality and how to do basic cleaning on the outside unit. They have our business and referrals.

I dont even know where to begin...if I could give this company 10 stars I would! Our A/C unit is not old at all; I would say 4-5 years old...we had issues with our contractor and lets just say things were not done right and we have been struggling with it for years. Ever since we had the unit; we have been adding freon annually...which is not cheap at all. At the start of this summer; same thing...had to add freon, but this time it didnt even last a day. I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with 3 technicians from this company: Joseph, Jack, and Rene and I cannot even begin to thank them enough. Joseph figured out right away what was causing the problem and recommended a solution. Jack and Rene came in to carry out the solution and stayed until the work was done completely and correctly explaining throughout the steps and the process. This all went down in a matter of a day. Joseph recommended the solution on Tuesday around 10 pm and Jack and Rene completed everything Wednesday around 9 pm. I will be a loyal customer of this company for years to come and recommend them to anyone and everyone I know. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Called Service First when I was unhappy with a previous A/C company. So glad I did! Peter was able to make it out to my house even earlier than expected. He called before of course to make sure it was ok with me. When he arrived he was very courteous and professional. He did an excellent job and I am so thankful! Thanks Peter! Called and spoke with a nice young lady to request a tech visit - asked her repeatedly if they did free estimates on repairs for ac units so we can get a 2nd opinion on repairing our broken ac, she repeatedly confirmed yes that they did free estimates on repairs as well as new unit replacements/installation - cool- exactly what we needed. Two guys show up on time about 1.5 hrs later and tell me they charge $85 for repair estimates, refused to do a free repair estimate and said they only do free new installation estimates - not helpful because we wanted to repair our unit, which is still in great working condition. Thats great of them - wasted my time and theirs, but ok. Then they tell me itll cost $10k for a new ac system for a small house.... what a load of garbage.Avoid this company, go with someone else that is more truthful.
First of all, they answered their phone, and dispatched someone to my home within 2 hours! Mike D, was honest, and quickly resolved my issue. Was very happy with their fee and the plans they offer! Will definitely use them in the future, and refer him! Mike was professional and courteous!
These guys are amazing!!! We started to have issues with our A/C at 7 pm on a Sunday and the people on the phone were really nice and set us up for an appointment. They gave us a time of 9 to 11 pm the techs would arrive. WELL!! They came early! YAY!! They arrived at 8ish and the guy was super nice and easy to talk to! His name was Jack. He found out the problem right away and helped resolve it. Overall, we will go to these guys for any of our AC/Heater needs in the future. I still cant believe how nice they were.
Service First installed a new a/c unit at work, for our lobby. They were very accomodating with our business open & close time foe our convenience. The new unit is functioning very well and we are pleased with this install and previous work Service First has done for our small business. Jack oversaw the project, Johnny & Fabian were the technicians that handled the install. They did quality work, pricing is reasonable & fair, their staff was polite & friendly. We live out of town and in our rental unit a/c was leaking. Called multiple places but everyone was to booked or had to wait a day. Called service first said they would take care of it and that they did for sure. They were fast, honest, and very reasonable. This is the fastest and most reasonably priced a/c company that I have ever used. At 9:30 this evening, our upstairs unit stopped cooling. Through a Google search for 24 hr AC Repair Service, I found Service First. The owner, Sam, actually answered the phone. EXCELLENT, PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY, TRUE HONEST HARD WORKERSI cannot begin to explain the level of excellent service that I received from this company. Their name is not just a name but truly the way that they do business.I called them out for a third opinion after having experienced multiple problems and dissapointments with other companies over the course of several months. They were straightforward, considerate, prompt and very explanatory with my options. They never made me feel like they were pushing a sale on me but rather taking my situation to heart and offering the best most cost efficient resolutions possible.After about a month I called them back during a major coldfront on a day that my heater finally gave in for good and needed to be entirely replaced. Although Joseph had worked almost a full day at that point, he stayed by my side to ensure that our financing would be taken care of and we were surprised that they began the installation almost RIGHT AWAY- and at 5pm at that! He and his helper worked tirelessly through the night to make sure that we would be comfortable through the terrible weather we were experiencing. I was shocked that they stayed till almost 1am to make sure the job was completed and on top of that Joseph was back very early the next day to make sure the correct thermostat was provided.The level of service was second to none and the price was well worth what we received and beyond. I highly recommend Service First (specifically the technician named Dennis Perez ). When our air conditioner stopped working, we called around 530 p.m. and Dennis arrived @ 550 P.M. Having 2 small children in the home at the time I was worried about not having a working A/C in August! Thankfully Dennis was able to turn what could have been a terrible experience into a very pleasant one! So my AC just stopped working & of course late at night. And needless to say it was HOT & wanted to get it fixed ASAP. I had a helluva time through my warranty (2day wait) so decided to go another route. And called SERVICE FIRST & they were able to get me in the same day! Which I luvd as did my family😀! Was extremely surprised at how fast they responded back to me & found the faulty item. Their customer service was TOP NOTCH as was their tech ADRIAN! He even listened to all my questions & gave me great info, advice & options!! Price was pretty fair not to mention especially w/ the mil discount! Will most deff use them if future issues arise! I dont write reviews unless something is horrible or great. This was great! We are selling our house and we have two AC units, all new or newer except the downstairs furnace a A coil, which was a very old Trane. Just in time to sell our house, a relay between the inside unit and outside unit failed. In the past, whenever we had this AC system serviced, companies were amazed the old Trane still worked and we havent died from Carbon Dioxide poisoning or had massive coolant leaks. (Tranes are awesome units). But anyway, we wanted to purchase this one unit, not buy a whole new system for downstairs. We wanted something nice but not too nice but not cheap junk either and we wanted something to match the newer outside unit. I sent two online/website/email requests to two different companies after doing some research online. Only one company responded back - this one. I received a call fairly quickly (not an email) and I explained what we wanted and she said she could send a company rep out between 2-4pm. I was surprised so I made the appointment. I received a call that the rep was free and could meet at 1pm. I was even happier. The rep came and I showed him the system and explained what I was looking for and that Id like at least 90 days same as cash because we intended to pay off the bill when the house closed in May or June. The rep did not try to up-sell me some expensive system or try to get me to replace the whole system. Even though replacing just one of the two components can be more expensive (per piece) than a package deal, the rep was very professional and nice and no pressure. I made my choice of systems, I had financing approved in just a couple minutes over the phone (through Synchrony) for 24 months payments at 4% interest. I asked when they could install it. He said this afternoon and evening. Granted, we are not in the middle of Satans playground of Texas in June through August where you can hardly get an AC guy to show up (it is still March) but I was very impressed. He called to see where his install techs were, he ordered the unit and the install techs were there by 4pm. They techs were very professional, nice guys, two brothers and worked pretty hard and fast. When removing the unit from the closet, a Mexican clay bean pot fell out of the attic (must have been sitting on the duct work or close to it) and knocked one of the brothers in the head breaking the pot and he said he almost blacked out. We felt pretty sorry for him and apologized, we put those old pots in the attic years ago and our kids must have moved them around. Anyway, Im sure the brothers will remember this install! They worked pretty late into the evening. There was no Well come back tomorrow to finish up. They did a great job, everything is clean, the duct work is nice and neat, not sloppy, we have a new filter system (our old one on the air intake downstairs sucked - in a bad way, and they completely serviced the whole system. One push of the button at about 7:30pm at night and we were running better than any AC unit we had downstairs in our house. Be advised, the AC might stink for about an hour or so due to some glue, tape, new duct work but that is pretty typical as they stated and it went away like they said. In these times, customer service is almost a thing of the past with most companies from getting a fast food burger to major transactions, act like we must be grateful a company does anything for us instead of the company being grateful for us selecting them and using their business and minimal efforts are given. I guess Ill leave my feedback at that. 5 Stars - A+. Dont bother calling anybody else. I probably could have found someone to do it a little cheaper but I believe you get what you pay for and we needed something done, we needed it done right, we needed it done fairly fast and I dont like to mess around. EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE!!! Best Customer Service in Town! If you need a new AC, AC maintenance, or anything related to heating and cooling this is the company to call. I own a large childcare center, and they installed my units in 2010..Its been rare that Ive had any problems, but when I do, they are there to responds quickly, the same day. Just recently, I had a problem that I thought was AC but was not, they responded, diagnosed the problem, and stayed to work with the plumber to fix the problem, at least 1 hr invested for someone elses problem, at at the end, a smile on their face and was proud to help. Who does that anymore today? Honesty, Integrity, & loyalty to their customers. I love this company!
Very happy with Joseph! He showed up exactly at 7, which was great because it was super hot, found the problem and had the AC running in less then 30 minutes. Joseph was friendly and took the time to show me the problem and why it broke. I was also pleased with the customer service upon calling the office, they answered immediately, and had someone to my house within 2 hours to fix the AC that simply wasnt working.
Our AC broke in the early evening... on the Saturday before Labor Day. We tried everything thinking that a professional fix would break the bank. We called Service First around 11:30 pm, and our AC was fixed two hours later for less than $130!! We were amazed to receive such great service on a Holiday weekend - service that didnt break the bank and was fast! Will definitely call again and recommend!!

I set an appointment up for tomorrow. However once my tech Derrico found out my A/C was not working he made it a priority to fix it TODAY!! Very responsive w/24hr service. Had a thermostat issue late night and Christian was there w/n 2hrs. Not only did he fix some faulty wiring, he also took some time to explain electrical safety w/our system to ensure we don’t injure ourselves or damage key system components.

These guys are committed! They replaced our 14 year old ac unit with a nice new system at a competitive price. After replacing the unit there appeared to be some sort of latent/occult leak and the system wouldnt hold a charge. They worked tirelessly coming out at all hours to keep us cool. Finally figured it out, but Im sure they lost money on this installation. None-the-less they were responsive & responsible to the end. The unit works perfectly now.
Its 9 pm and its 90 degrees in my house: its a nightmare. I call the first 24hr AC company Google brings up, and cross my fingers. Not only was the technician, Jack, prompt, (he arrived no more than 20 minutes after phoning in my emergency) he was also professional, friendly, and informative. Jack explained how my AC unit works and how the part that went out functions within the unit. Additionally, he made sure I was aware of the cost of the replacement part before the installation. For years Ive had a maintenance contract with another AC company in San Antonio, but after tonight I cant imagine using any company other than Service First. (Its not just a clever name :)
Joseph Gonzalez and Mike came out to the house and got my AC up in running in less than a half hour. They were very friendly and built rapport with me instantly. I was expecting to spend way more than I did so I ended up buying a kickstart thing to help prolong the life of my new capacitor. Highly recommend this company to anyone with AC needs.
Jack came out and was very knowledgeable and was able to determine the problem with my central AC system within minutes. He was honest and down to earth. I was very impressed with the customer service from calling them to the whole visit. It turned out I had a bad capacitor and he checked out the whole system and explained how the system should be ruining and what everything meant. I will be calling Service first from now on.
Here on Feb. 16 during the worst cold snap Texas has had in decades, my HVAC unit just died. Hoping beyond hope I called around. Everyone else incl. the big names seemed to be closed or unable to answer their phone. But I came across Service First and saw the reviews so called and on the 2nd ring got an answer. They were able to come out the same day (today). Of course I feared emergency pricing or a system failure thatd cost an arm and a leg. Turns out the disconnect got fried, possibly by the demand on the unit, and the tech was able to bypass the component. I was charged only their basic service call fee and nothing more. This was a nice surprise. Ill need an electrician to replace the disconnect but thats ok.SF also does plumbing. I have a couple plumbing issues and will call upon them later to see how that goes.

I was getting some work done on my HVAC (again) and suspected I was being ripped off. I called Service First and told them I just want a second opinion, didn’t tell them anything. Turns out it was a good decision! Omar came out and explained everything he was doing, ran tests on the HVAC for significantly less money. He showed me where all the issues and provided me with some options repair vs replace. Based on the issues with the HVAC and other shenanigans, we ended up getting a new HVAC. Johnny and Emilio came out and did the installation. Johnny is an old school AC guy. Told us he started when he was 14. He explained everything as he worked so there wouldn’t be any issues. He and Emilio took their time to make sure it was done right. This company is responsive to questions/concerns (thanks Sam!) and did us right. Highly recommend!!!

Joseph was our service tech. who responded quickly to our urgent need related to leaking AC and water damage to our hardwood floors. The dispatcher said she would put us in emergency status and Joseph called with an ETA and showed up right on time. A drain line was clogged causing condensation to back up into the unit, he put a sensor on the line so if it backed up again it would shut the ac off and not damage our floors again, thank you. Joseph was quick, assured in what he was doing and very professional. We will definitely use Service First and ask for Joseph.

We had our ac unit serviced by them aug 28th Josh told us he had to order a part and would be back to replace it and never came back. He said this in front of 3 people and denies he ever said it.. we called him 2 weeks later bc again our unit was not cooling and we inquired about the “part” Lisa told us Josh would call us and if course he didn’t. I called every week sometimes twice a week only to be told “Josh will call you” and he never did. I finally spoke to a Veronica today and Josh FINALLY called me back stating he was never told to call me and that he didn’t know anything about a part needing to be installed. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he told me “I am the supervisor” and continued on telling me what he fixed with my issue to which I kept reiterating “you didn’t fix it because it’s doing the exact same thing” he then told me that in order for him to come out and see if it was the same problem it was going to cost me an additional $300. I asked why I would have to pay an additional fee for what he should’ve fixed right the first time and he kept insisting bc this is a new issue not related to the initial fix and that he was never told there was an issue until now. I told him it’s not my fault your staff failed to communicate and with his condescending tone he told me well that was all he could offer me. It costed me 1299 for it to work right for 2 weeks mind you this was a brand new unit installed last year in June..
Derrico arrived within the hour of making my service call to the company on a very hot July day. Unfortunately my compressor did go out and i elected to purchase a new outside condensing unit. The new unit was delivered and installed that evening. A very uncomfortable evening of no cold air was happily averted. I found Derrico and Mikes service to be very responsive and professional. They work tirelessly to see that the customer is satisfied.
Very bad experience called and scheduled a AC repair for 8-10 am the next day for a tenant as I was unfortunately out of town and unable to repair myself. I was called around 9am the morning of repair to tell me the tech was on his way. 2 hours later I called and asked the eta of the repair man as the tenant was asking about the status as she had plans for the day and was told by the office secretary he would be on his way momentarily and about 1130 he finally showed up. I had already told them what the issue was and it would need a capacitor for the ac unit as my tenant had sent me video of the humming the compressor was making. The repair man came in very nice and took about 10 minutes to diagnose the need for a capacitor and it would cost 309.00$ to replace I was of course amazed as the capacitor for this unit is between 18-40$ at the local home stores and I then called the office to ask why the cost was so high and was told I could just pay a service charge of 89$ or pay for the repair in which the service charge would be absorbed with that. I asked what their hourly rate was and was told that they dont repair by the hour just by the job. Anyway it took the repair man 20 minutes to replace the capacitor so that shakes out to 140$ for every 10 minutes plus the price of a new capacitor. I will not use again and would find out their fees upfront but wait they wont tell you that. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS SERVICE FIRST AC AND HEATING REPAIR THEY ARE RIP OFF ARTIST. The whole we take care of veterans because we are veterans is BS STAY AWAY.
TL;DR: they wanted to charge me $1400 to replace a compressor fan motor. I got a ballpark quote of $500 from a couple other companies and ended up getting it done for $375 from a third.Full story: AC wasnt blowing cold air. Checked outside and discovered that the compressor fan wasnt spinning. Called Service First, who promptly sent out a tech for an $85 service call. He was a nice guy who immediately diagnosed the issue as the compressor fan motor needing to be replaced. He started suggesting that, since my AC was almost 20 years old, I should probably go ahead and just replace the whole thing. When I refused (since my AC had been working fine up to this point), he gave a few more half-hearted attempts to get me to replace the whole thing and then agreed to replace just the motor. The cost? $1400!Me: I have to ask: why is it so expensive? The part is a couple hundred bucks, and the job cant take more than an hour or two.Him: Yeah, its about $200 for the part. But it only takes 30 minutes. I have the part right here.Me: So wait, you want to charge me $1200 labor for 30 minutes of work? Thats $2400/hr!Him: Yeah, but youre getting a certified professional to do the work. Ill get everything working just right.Me: Yeah, but $2400/hr?!Him: Well, you know, that covers my time, my gas... we have a secretary in the office... and the building...Me: $2400 an hour? No, I cant let you do this. Thanks for your time.Him: Okay, yeah, I understand. You know, the jobs not that difficult. You can check on youtube and probably do it yourself.Outrageous. So I called the office and spoke with a very nice manager who quoted me a ballpark of $500 to do the job. I then asked him why his tech wanted to charge me $1400 to get it done. The manager said that the tech mustve been quoting me for an ECM motor, which is a more expensive part. I had taken a picture of the box with the new motor that the tech was going to install, so I read the manager the details of that to confirm whether the new motor was ECM. The manager acknowledged that it was just a regular motor. He then suggested that the tech mustve had the wrong pricing. He mentioned that they had recently gone from paper to digital, and so there mustve been some confusion, but that the correct pricing was on the tablet. When I asked the manager why his tech didnt confirm the pricing on his tablet when I scoffed at the price, he replied that he probably just needed to retrain the tech. The manager then offered to speak with the tech to find out why he had quoted me such an exorbitant price, which I took him up on. He did call me back but offered no additional explanation as to why the price was quoted so high. After this conversation, I scrolled through the Service First reviews on Google, since I had initially called them based on numerous positive Google reviews, and I found essentially this same scheme detailed by another reviewer. She had paid $1200 for a compressor fan motor. From where Im standing, this appears to be their business model:1. Charge $85 for the service call. This way you at least cover your operating expenses.2. Try to replace entire AC units whenever possible, even if they dont need replacing.3. If the customer wont allow you to replace the entire unit, quote an insanely high price for repair of the actual faulty component. If the customer bites, you make a huge profit. If not, whatever -- you already collected the $85 to cover your costs.Save yourself the hassle (and expense!), and find another AC company.Edit 10/23/2020: Manager replied to this review with more deception. Even by his own admission during my initial call with him, there was no mix-up with the correct part. There was also no clarification of price until I called, which was after they had collected their $85 extortion -- err, service -- fee (and after I had already had the repair done by someone honest for an appropriate price a few days later).
This was my second unit from Service first AC because my prior experience was outstanding and I never had any issues with maintenance or service calls. I bought a top of the line 17 SEER unit with the UV filter and wifi from Omar and we even discussed the purchase of a third smaller unit and he quoted a great low price. Sadly the installers have yet to come back and install the wifi module after 3 failed attempts and calls made to the installer. I am tempted to have someone else come check the work to ensure the unit was installed correctly and no short cuts were taken. I will also call another company to get that third unit after all. Its sad because I spoke very highly of themIn the past but I am big on customer service and attention to detail but failure to not only install a component of the system along with a failure to follow through on times and dates agreed upon to get it installed are inexcusable. Over a month has passed and this part just sits.
I recently had to call Service First AC for some repair work. From the receptionist that answered the phone call to Omar the technician that came out first, Josh and Ruben; Johnny and Javier all gave great service very helpful and making sure we understood the situations and the choices that we had. Very pleased with the outcome of having to replace my AC.
Id give negative stars if possible. They wont break down prices and claim no other companies do, but they do. I know from experience. They tried to oversell me on repairs that werent needed. I got a second opinion who waived the $85 dollar fee and shockingly, what was quoted on a ghetto text, wasnt totally accurate. They refused to send me a quote via email because regardless of parts and labor needed, they have set prices. Second company broke prices down and explained the repair from beginning to end. Im not sure how they sleep at night ripping people off.
Called this company for a second opinion regarding my AC unit after another company tried to tell me that I needed to replace my entire AC unit! Joseph was very professional and was able to locate the problem within a few minutes. Turns out that my capacitor was bad needed to be replaced. He took the time to show me what the issue was and what to look for should my AC stop working again. I would recommend this company to anyone!

Not usually a reviewer, but these guys came through. Service was fast and efficient and our technician did an amazing job. Definitely using them again for our needs in the future.
I was having an issue with a new install and the company that did it wasnt really giving me the runaround, but they werent really fixing the issue either. Time for a 2nd opinion. I called Service First and they sent out Derrico who IDd the problem in about 10 seconds; the new unit wasnt level and was draining improperly. Got the original company to fix it under warranty and all thanks to Service First. Our other unit will be replaced soon, and I know who Ill be calling. 1st-rate service. Highly recommend.
In the almost 2 years we have had our HVAC system in our business it has had something wrong with it on an average of every 4 months. They have yet to fix it and still keep having us go days in the subfreezing weather and/or heat before someone comes out. Operating and bar and grill the comfort of my guests is a top priority and i has severely impacted my business. I give them credit that they at least are friendly when I speak to them. Would never recommend this company.
These guys are great. Weve been doing business with them for over 6 years. Twice a year they come out and do maintenance on my system, which is older. They show up on time and the guy is always courteous. They wear shoe covers and dont leave a mess behind.
I have an older home and while my inside unit is a bit newer the outside unit is quite old. I returned home to a very HOT & HUMID house last weekend in the early evening. It was miserable! I called Service First and a technician was at my house in no time. He was very courteous, mindful of the time of night and quickly determined what the issue was and set to work fixing the unit. He was able to replace the compressor and get the unit back up and running. This is not the first time Ive used Service First and it wont be the last.

I was desperate and Jack from Service First came to my rescue! I had been waiting 5 days for my property management company to fix my AC, they either didnt show up at all or fiddled with it and said it was fixed when it wasnt. It was late on a Saturday afternoon, he came quickly at the time he said he would be here and had it up and running in less then a half hour. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I never thought Id find anyone to work on my a/c so late 1:30 in the morning, very professional, very kind. Great job, did not skip a beat he new exactly what to do from beginning to end, wasted no time fumbling around. I am very pleased and thankful I found and called Service First. 24 hour service does exist.

I had this company install a new AC system in my home. The crew left trash in my yard, they damaged the trusses in my attic, they failed to send off the paperwork for my promised CPS rebate. When I call to attempt to resolve, they fail to do anything or even return my calls. After a year of getting the run around, I am taking them to small claims court. My experience with this company has been very bad across the board. Beware..... This is a terrible company
When my A/C unexpectedly malfunctioned, Joshua and Javier were there that night to take care of me. Unfortunately I ended up having to replace both my inside and outside unit. Both of them helped me choose the best option that fits my budget and replaced and installed both units in just a couple hours. I highly recommend this company.
The technician that came out to diagnose my system was very professional, the staff at HQ were not. I kept calling them for two weeks to schedule a time for them to come out and fix my AC. I was told multiple times Let me check if the part has come in and will call you back in a few minutes. I never got a call back after five tries and went with a different company.
I called Service First on a Friday night a while back because the AC at my house wasnt working. Long-story-short: they didnt fix it until Tuesday with a variety of excuses (one was understandable; the rest were not). This isnt my main complaint.Once it was fixed, they double charged me. They didnt notice the error; we noticed it on our bank statement a little over a week later. I called them back and explained that they double charged us. They took down our information and said the bookkeeper would be able to check for the mistake on Monday.That Monday comes and goes without a call or an email. I call back and they gave some excuse why the bookkeeper didnt get to it. They took down my information again so the bookkeeper could get to it the next Monday (because the bookkeeper only works for a couple hours on Mondays).That following Monday I call and the bookkeeper is out again. So Im told that the owner is willing to write me a check for the amount of the double charge if I provide a screenshot of my bank statement. I email them a screenshot (edited because I dont want to give out my account info). No response (phone call, text, or email).Then following Monday I called them again. They said that the bookkeeper was still there and shell look at it right away. At this point I had finally had enough...- Did you get my email?- Yes, but it didnt show enough information?- You didnt reply and tell me what other info you needed? Do you need my entire back statement?- Well the bookkeeper is here now, and shes looking into it.- Youve know about this problem for weeks now. Youve taken down my information multiple times. Why is the bookkeeper only looking now that Ive called? Shouldnt this be one of the main things the bookkeeper is supposed to look at?- Ill give you a call back when the bookkeeper is done.A short time later they call back and tell me the bookkeeper found the double charge, and they would mail me a check. Im hopeful the check is actually coming...They didnt offer me any discount for the double charge, long wait, or the fact that I had to keep calling them to get it fixed. The AC work was acceptable, but their customer service was horrible.If you plan to use them, be sure to check your bank statements for double charges because they dont care.

I called service first after a bad experience with Airtron. They had left my AC non-functional after a service call the prior day. Calls to Airtron were met with hours on hold in a queue waiting for a person who never picked up. This lead me to search for other AC service companies, and based on reviews I tried out Service First.The technician (I wish i could remember his name, but i was running on low sleep from not having ac all night) answered promptly and was out within an hour. He diagnosed the problem (a broken door switch), and also informed me that my two HEPA filters were non-functional due to a broken door. (something Airtron never mentioned).Service first has my business from here on. They were honest, prompt, and responsive.
Expensive. Large charge for small work. $99 for diagnostic which I had already done. Showed tech what was wrong and paid them$99 for privilege. Previous work charges were more reasonable.No diagnostic examination. I told the technician what was wrong. He cleaned the line I said was clogged. He collected his money and left. No maintenance. No examination. No diagnostic.
Service First replaced our A/C and ran all new duct work as our old ones were original to our home and were no longer up to code. Johnny and Javier worked so hard, all day and into the evening to get everything just right. Despite the miserable heat, they kept a positive attitude. They were very friend and professional.
Summer in San antonio without ac is unbearable, this amazing company diagnosed the repair late at night and got the parts in the next day, and was out repairing the unit to have my family back with ac in under 24hrs. their technical expertise and problem solving skills on a unit that is not even made anymore was impressive.
Dariko came out for us at 9pm tonight Saturday February 20 2016. His professional service and attention to detail were outstanding. We have had three other companies come out and suck on our wallet to no avail. This tech breezed through everything didnt waste my time and trouble shot everything on two AC units in about an hour and a half. He didnt over charge us or up charge. This is the only AC company I will be calling from now on. Make sure to ask for this tech.
I love this company!!! We had a problem with our Ac and it was getting pretty late at night and they still squeezed us in within an hour. Its the middle of summer and it was so hot and we have small kids. They arrived when they said they would and fixed it within a few mins. Our home was over 98° with our ac unit running, we called and were told it would be a few hours before someone could arrive and check our unit. Christian arrived at our home in less than 30mins after we called. Within a few minutes he diagnosed and repaired the system, hes a lifesaver and very professional. We would definitely be calling them again if need be.

Came out (3) times about the same leak. When I called a 4th time that it was STILL LEAKING, they said it was something else and quoted a new price: $600 on top of the $250 I already paid them!!! 🤬

I called Service First in a pinch and they really stepped up. Joseph was able to come out the same day. I told him that based on some of the symptoms that it sounded like the compressor was shot. I was expecting an expensive repair.Rather than follow my conclusion, Joseph took a look and found that it only needed a new switch and a capacitor.This is an example of how some mom and pop places could actually cost you more money because of a lack of experience.I am extremely pleased with the service I got and will be using them again.

Phoned them this morning about our AC. The technician came out and replaced a capacitor on the condenser. The price for the capacitor was $250. These can be found online or in AC service stores for $10 - $30. That means that these rippoff artists have a 1000% markup on their parts. I know that I shouldve done my research before I just had them replace the part, but hopefully this will help other people to to avoid the same mistake.Phoned the office to enquire about this and the assistant told me that that is what they charge, take it or leave it. By signing their invoice I agreed to the price.Please beware of these guysIf I could give them less than 1 star I would
When I called them they were friendly and helpful. And they were able to get a technician out far earlier than was planned and the issue with my AC was fixed in short order. All in all they were great and very quick service.
