Cruz Control Heating & Air

We had one of our two condensers replaced by them in the summer of 2022. It was a great experience. When we had recent trouble with the other condenser, we called them thinking it would be another great experience. It was anything but! The technician took it upon himself to replace the capacitor without first presenting us with the diagnosis and giving us a cost breakdown. I really feel like he should have presented all that to us BEFORE doing the work and handing us a bill. Maybe thats not how things are done anymore? I just felt like $300 for 10 minutes of work, yikes! I looked up the part online, it was a $28 capacitor.  When I asked him if he could come down a bit on his price since that mark up seemed a bit extreme, we were a repeat customer and not to mention I was ALSO paying over $1000 for 6lbs of freon...he says $250 is the best I can do. Ok, fine, be a scoundrel lol We pay them and hope we are good to go. Within 2 days the unit is acting up again. I call them back out. They check everything, say the wiring was a little loose, we. All good now they say. A couple days go by, the unit isnt working again. By now, I dont trust them and feel taken advantage of. So we call out another company. They discover that the capacitor was installed so poorly that the wires melted. (They showed it to me and its easy to see melted wires at the connection site). When I got in touch with Cruz to let them know that their work was such low quality it resulted in that and asked if we could get a partial refund of some kind, no response. He clearly doesnt care about his reputation, providing quality work or doing what is right. Please dont use this company. We got recommended Seth Funkhouser with Apollo HVAC by the staff at Locke HVAC supply, a HVAC supply store here in town. Use Seth, he was exactly the type of technician you hope shows up when something goes wrong. Competent. Fair pricing. Everything that Cruz Air is NOT. Avoid my experience, dont use them.

I want to take a minute to write a review for Cruz AC.Jose at Cruz AC was recommended to me by my neighbor a couple years ago, when we were going through a lot of trouble with our AC unit. This was during the summer heat wave and so you can remember the demand at the time was incredibly high. I asked him if he could come out at short notice and explained to him that I had 2 kids with special needs along with a 91 year old grandmother living with us. Jose made time to come out and check what the issue was, and in full transparency told me what needed to be fixed and the cost behind it. What impressed me even further was that he took the time to mentor his son. A rare scene to find at this day and age. They completed the task and came back a couple weeks later to check their work.Now fast forward to today. AC wasnt working this morning. Wife and kids are getting antsy with the heat and I need Jose to come by. The man texts and promptly shows up about a couple hours later on time. And again, analyzes the problem and shares in complete transparency, the issue, the work and the cost. We had a blown motor due to a wrong capacitor that was installed before we bought the house. He made sure he got the job done TODAY.And so here I am writing this review.Final thoughts? Hes a family man thats dedicated to the residents of this community. Hes punctual, transparent and wont sell you BS. (And believe me, Im sure everyone has had their share of BS)If those arent the qualities youre looking for, I dont know what is.5 out 5. Will call and rehire him without hesitation.

2 stars for being fast to respond. But I can’t go beyond that. Up until the last service call I would have given 5 stars. I had used them before to add freon to my AC. I chose them because they were asking what I believed to be a reasonable price for 410a. Something like $50 per pound. I can get it myself for much less than $20 per pound, but am not a licensed technician. So I thought a markup of 2.5 times was reasonable for the service. Most of the other places I called were asking 8-10 times that amount. I was happy to find a fair deal. But fast forward a year, and I scheduled Cruz again to top off my freon. Same prompt response as before, but when it came time to pay the bill, I was presented with a shocking 8-10 times cost per pound. I asked why, and was told freon prices had risen 15-20%. Well, fair enough, and I would have happily paid it. But his price has risen over 250% in one year. I have the receipts. To be fair, I can’t really say Cruz is the only one now charging these outrageous mark-ups. Most seem to do it. I’ll be shopping around again.

I am extremely happy and impressed with Cruz Control Heating & Air experience! I had them install a new HVAC system a few weeks ago, several friends of mine told me they always do the right thing and take care of their customer. They have a new customer for life and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I recently had a very unpleasant experience with Cruz Control Heating & Air. They charged me an outrageous $289 for a capacitor that costs around $30 in the market. This kind of price gouging is completely unacceptable.If youre considering using their services, I strongly urge you to be very cautious. Before agreeing to any part replacements, check the prices online. These guys are nothing but rip-offs, preying on customers who trust them to provide fair and honest service.Save yourself the headache and look for a more reputable company that wont take advantage of you.

Joe and his guys are very responsive, and accommodating. Joe was quick to send his guys out to my aging mother-in-laws home to replace her broken thermostat. Jose and his son really helped us out today. They showed up quickly when I called about our AC not working on a 100 degree day. They fixed several things and explained it all in a way we understood. Our AC was on verge of breaking today and wouldn’t cool the house. Great Service and very professional. A/C was on the fritz and I called Cruz Control Heating & Air and they were at my house within the hour. They completed the job within the same day which is almost unheard of. Mr. Cruz was very thorough with explaining to me what was going on with my unit and pricing. He did not come in and rush through like other companies have in the past. His apprentice was also very polite. Will definitely be using them in the future.

Our local neighborhood Facebook group recommended Cruz Control and we called them out today to get a second opinion after the first company only tried to get us to buy a new unit. They were professional, friendly, informative and got it back and running without pushing a new unit on us. Highly recommend!

Mr. Cruz is fantastic! Im a widow and a retired teacher and live on a tight budget. He maintains my heater and air conditioning units. He came on Saturday evening and changed out my blower motor. He was here till past 10:00 PM. He is very personable, and I think he treats me like I’m his mother. Very professional, very friendly, hard worker, Family man, and an all-around great guy! I would recommend Cruz Control heating and air every time! They are the best!

Wow this company is amazing . I had a company to come out to check my dad’s AC unit . My dad is elderly so I facilitate his business . So many people try to take advantage of the elderly . The first company I called did just that over priced my dad and wanted him to pay for services that weren’t needed ,therefore I wanted to get a second opinion . My best friend stated she used Cruz Control . I called them, they came out immediately . He and his son were very nice and professional . He was very thorough and explained everything . The price Mr Cruz charged was no where near the price the first company charged . My father was very happy with the service and so was I . U can not go wrong hiring this company for your AC needs . There’re honest , knowledgeable , nice and extremely professional .

AC went out today on the hottest day of the year of course! Cruz Control Heating & Air LLC were with me in 1 hour and I’m back up and running!

We had our heating and AC systems replaced and the service was absolutely outstanding. They were very detailed and thorough during the initial inspections as well as the installation process. Jose worked with me to put together a proposal I was comfortable with and was quick to answer any questions and address any concerns I had. Professional, timely, and courteous. Highly recommended!

Our Heating was not working. Technician Cruz came .We were quoted $269 for diagnosis, and adjustment (labor) which we agreed and paid. He did not replace any parts and heater started working .However, while he had the furnace assembly open, he took out the existing capacitor to test. He recommended replacing the capacitor. At that stage, installing a new capacitor was just a matter of plug and play. To our surprise, Cruz asked additional $250 for a new capacitor which he mentioned he had in his truck. I knew additional $250 for a capacitor was an outrageous price, so I declined . Later, I checked the price of the capacitor. It is readily available in different local stores for approximately $15, same spec and made in USA.

There should be a 10 star rating available for Cruz Control. I have never had to maintain an AC unit alone but know that I will never call anyone else the next time I need anything heat or AC related. I noticed a small issue earlier today and called Cruz Control. I spoke with Mr. Cruz himself. He and his son Ben were able to come out a little while ago and he went through everything that he checked and in terms I understood. They could not have been more courteous or professional. I will recommend them to everyone I know from now on and am assured that I now have an amazing AC company!!!! LOOK NO FURTHER!

Cruz Control came out the same day of me contacting them. They were very knowledgeable, explained the issues my units had and got them up and running again quickly. I would definitely call them again should something else need attention. I had called a big name company for a heating issue over the winter and they just wanted to talk about replacing the whole system. I know they are a bit old but hoping to get a little more life out of them. These guys just fixed the problems for a reasonable price and did not try to sell up. My AC fan quit so I called them. They did arrive within an hour on a 100 degree day which I thought was a good sign. They diagnosed the problem as a seized fan motor within 5 minutes and said they had some options for replacement. They then handed me a bill for $95 for doing nothing but stepping onto my property and a quote for $695 for a factory motor replacement or $599 for a universal rescue motor replacement.So for all of you who dont know about HVAC, a compressor fan motor costs about $150, and takes about 30 minutes to change if you have a 1st Grade level of electrical knowledge and a common socket wrench. I told them I would not pay that much and sent them away. This was a Friday at 430pm, and I was still able to find a new replacement motor and change it all before dinner and I only spent $170 (motor plus tax).For all of you who think these guys are hard working and honest, Im here to tell you NOPE. They are typical tradesmen who think they can take advantage of people simply because they have a specific license and typical home owners just dont know. Most people are in a dire situation when them call guys like these or and are willing to pay whatever just to have the issue resolved. Dont get me wrong, I understand that plumbers, electricians, HVAC, etc., take long times to get licensed and some of the things they do are quite complex and dangerous, but for Gods sake, trying to charge me $550 in product markup and labor for a simple part and job that probably wouldnt take him 15 minutes is garbage. They literally tried to steal from my family, and take advantage of us in a time of need. For that I say F - You Mr. Cruz. You should pray that Im not the only person around if you ever need help.

I had a failing thermostat and some type of short that caused the full system to be inoperable. Jose was able to drop by right by to look at my thermostat. Everything was fixed within two hours. Excellent work. Professional and fair prices!

Jose came to the rescue today! Our AC stopped blowing cold air and I was living in hell for a whole day waiting on the warranty company to do their thing. Mr. Cruz was quick to come out on a Sunday morning and diagnose our heating problem. He was able to get us up and running that day and then follow up on Tuesday to be sure we were in good shape before the cold weather comes in. We appreciate and highly recommend him.

Working with this company is as pleasant as it could possibly be. I will always use Cruz Control / José and his family for my rental properties’ air maintenance needs and emergencies. Jose takes the time to explain what is being checked & tested, shows me the read outs and explains what they should be versus what they are, takes other pictures and videos for explanation, has extensive documentation on what’s been done and what may be coming in the future... it’s really very comprehensive. Jose, his brother & son are great communicators and professional. They tidy up after their work. They also understand the criticality of no AC in Texas and have always come out same-day. I couldn’t ask for much more. I used to use Choice Air & had a recent emergency where my tenant family didn’t have AC for five days because Choice Air couldn’t fix the issue, couldn’t find the part, brought the wrong part, etc., etc. I put the family up in a hotel because Choice Air couldn’t get it fixed. I found Cruz Control through a referral, he came out that day after hours, had it fixed the next morning when the parts supplier opened. What a life saver! Thank you!

I contacted Cruz Control upon the recommendation by a neighbor and I am so glad I did. On one of the hottest days of the summer, they were able to diagnose and repair our AC unit in one afternoon! Very few companies are able to do this. I will definitely call them in the future!

The best a/c company in the metroplex! Instead of trying to sell us inside and outside unit, this company was able to replace just the failed component and the chewed up wiring. Jose was transparent, services was realistic and not astronomical. I have used this company for my moms and my mother n laws a/c issues. We had Jose cruz replace an evaporator coil on our downstairs ac and found his service to be exceptional and excellent. He was very detailed in his approach and also helped us with couple of additional fixes that prolong ac life. If you need a trustworthy hvac tech, Cruz Control ac is the way to go.

I had a after hours air conditioner emergency. Around 7:30 pm, no cold air downstairs. Fan inside would blow, but no cold air. The unit outside would not spin the blades. I called Baker Bros., Berkeys, A#1 Air, Reliant, DT, K&S, Bacon, Walker Air, Xtreme Air...ALL of them. No one could make it out that night. If they could, it wouldnt be till 11pm -1am (depending on the company). All quoted me over $200 just to come out after hours. I called Cruz Control, they came within 30 min. Told me I had a broken capacitor. He and his son were very professional, knowledgeable, informative, & friendly. I believe he was also using my emergency as a teaching moment for his son. Checked my pressure, and gave a quote for other maintenance issues. $65 for the call....more for parts & labor. I was quoted over $200 just to take a look after hours from most of the other companies. I would DEFINITELY use Cruz control again.

Jose is one of the best AC guys I’ve ever dealt with. He’s timely, professional, and does a wonderful job of explaining the issue. I’ve used him for AC maintenance, AC issues, heating problems, and installation of our Ecobee. You won’t go wrong choosing Jose for any HVAC needs that you may have.

May 2020 Jose and his son came out within 10 minutes of my call. Quickly assessed the problem, grab the replacement part, and knocked it out.June 2021 Cruz Heating/Air was called out once again. Found the problem, flushed my drainage line, and gave me a quote for an evaporator coil replacement. Jose came back the next afternoon and knocked out the evaporator.

Jose was very professional and was able to come out late at night on a Saturday, without any hesitation. If you are looking for an AC repair company, in the Sachse area, this is the company. You will be pleased and glad you called.
