My experience with Security America Mortgage, Inc. (SAMI), was one of the best I have ever had involving the acquisition of a new residential property. Everything seemed to flow smoothly right from the start. The application process was to the point and not overly burdensome. The tracking tool used to follow your mortgage application completion process was always up-to-date and accurate. However, most enjoyable, was working with my loan officer and his assistant. Both Mark Vela (Loan Officer) and Nadia Agha (Assistant) are the absolute best. They are professional, competent, knowledgeable, and courteous. Going through the mortgage application process can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. Mark and Nadia navigated every issue that presented itself with great skill, and I knew where I stood throughout the process. Mark was almost always available whenever I contacted him, and when he wasnt he quickly connected with me shortly thereafter. Let me first say that this is truly a testimony. My husband and I started our journey with Security American Mortgage about 2 years ago. I am a Realtor with Exit Realty Central in the Central Florida area. I got with Security America Mortgage in February 2013. Susan Moeller was the loan officer and she is a rock star. She was able to close a short sale in 10 days. I have sent her several deals and she always gets the job done. She is my go to loan officer and never lets me down. I have joined the referral network and have used other great loan officers as well. I would recommend that if you are military you should give them a try! The VA process is their specialty. Having used a VA loan myself they are very experienced and know exactly what needs to be done to make sure our veterans are in good hands.

I called and talked to Jim about the VA Construction Loan. He was incredibly helpful and honest about the process and what to expect. In the end, I was able to make an informed decision, and, although that was to not proceed with that type of loan, he was very gracious. This was an awesome experience. Even with all the hurdles that we had to jump over. Natalie, my lender, was awesome. She never gave up on us. She had a lot of patience. If she made a mistake, she owned up to it. From the first day we contacted her until the day we signed papers on our house was 4.5 months. I will definitely recommend her for any VA loans that anyone asks for. My Realtor, Jeff Gilliam with WestMark Realty in Lubbock said he would definitely also recommend her for any VA loans that he comes across. Great job Natalie!!

EXTREMELY POOR experience, I would give them a zero if possible. Here is why: 5 weeks into the process and AFTER I had paid for the appraisal ($800), these people denied the loan based solely on the distance of the property to my work. Stating “They are not comfortable with the distance under any circumstance.” - meaning they refused to even list it as a secondary home.There was literally no issue with my financial piece. They knew the locations from the beginning. After 4 submissions to underwriting, FIVE weeks in and several thousand dollars into the process, they told me this. Forcing me to scramble to find another lender. Happily, I did find a great lender who had my loan cleared to close in 4 weeks, with zero hoops no less (unlike Security America who had me jump through many).My loan officer was Jason Noble and the processor was Justin Ogren. I WOULD NOT recommend this company unless you want to waste your time and money. Absolutely awful.- 1/2/20 update-To the owner in response to your reply:I have received no contact from the loan officer after your reply ~3 weeks ago. He did not even bother to respond to my last email after I was told they refused the loan. However, being contacted now matters little unless you would like to make some kind of reparation and return my wasted money. The score I gave was in response to how my loan was handled; it was not given lightly and is justified.I was a first time buyer and this experience was unacceptable (I can say this with absolute certainty because of my experiences with 2 companies after your denial). Additionally, I do not care that they have never had a complaint before, nor do I care for excuses about being imperfect. Just because you have not received a complaint before, does not void my experience with your company. I do not know who’s fault this was and am uninterested in assigning specific blame; I stated who was handling my loan and the circumstances around it.Your company wasted 5 weeks of my time and $800 of my money. If it was a problem on my side then I would not have left a poor review; but this is far from the case. As I said, I found a company who was able to close in less than 4 weeks and they did not make me jump through any hoops. I did not have any others waste my time or money.

I spoke to Willie today who was ever so pleasant when we began speaking. But as soon as I mentioned that I was interested in the down payment assistance program things went downhill from there. I told him that I was working with a lender already and considering switching to Security Mortgage since they are the lender for property I was interested in. Explained to him my situations and he repeatedly cut me off downplaying the entire down payment assistance program and basically telling me how it was useless. He then told me that he could get me into a down payment assistance program that would give me a 4.25% interest rate with $10,000 in assistance but that none of the assistance money would go towards the down payment, that it would go towards lender fees, an upfront lump sum of mortgage insurance, and an upfront lump sum of the taxes for the property. I then started to ask him questions to get a better understanding of what he was telling me and he flat out told me that I was better off staying with the lender I was with and that he had another call to answer. I was outdone!! Its already frustrating enough and physically, emotionally, and mentally draining going through the house buying process, but to have to deal with this kind of rudeness, unhelpfulness, poor customer service, a person with no care whatsoever for what youre going through, makes matters a whole lot worse! Willie seems to be after the quick money and anything else that is a hassle or if you dont have your down payment money ready to roll, he doesnt have time to deal with you. I cant speak for the company as a whole, but I would NEVER recommend anyone to choose Willie to assist based on this experience. Which makes Security American look horrible as a whole in my opinion, therefore I would never recommend anyone to seek their services in the house buying process.

Let me start off by saying that me and my husband went through four different lenders to only get denied. Then I came across Security America Mortgage. We had a wonderful gentleman by the name of Keith Neuroh that went above and beyond for us. Every time I had a question he helped 100 percent. We closed our loan just last week, and it only took two months to get there. I have already referred him to my family members. If you choose any VA lender, let it be Security America Mortgage because they do not dissapoint. Thank you so much Keith, you are the best!

THANK GOD FOR UNANSWERED PRAYERS/VETERENS BEWARE!These people are very nice and cordial at first. But then when there are problems they try and put blame on you. It took 4 months for them to tell us we were denied the loan. Cost us an extra $500 for a 2nd appraisal which they could have the 1st revised. And the 2nd appraiser told us he had diificult time getting the information he needed from them. They were going to make us have to refinance after paying 6 months of notes after the house was built to get a good rate, which we thought was common practice until we got with the mortgage company. Also they told us that any monies not used by our builder does not automatically get applied to the loan and we would have to work something out with the builder. Also not true. After the house is complete our mortgage company will automatically modify the loan and any monies not used by the builder will be deducted from the loan balance at that time. Our current lender had the same information these people had and with in (3) weeks we had approval and went to closing on the loan.

Security America Mortgage,Thank you very much. We had a wonderful Loan Officer, Hamis King. It was a tough process to go through due to new legislation for financing homes because of the 2008 Home Loan Crisis. Thankfully, I do not have to go through this process again as this was our retirement home. It took at least 9 months to get through the process. Hamis would not let me get frustrated and always said it was a GOOD DAY! He had expressions for each day of the week; such as, “Good Morning, Happy Terrific Tuesday!” or Its Wonderful Wednesday. He would always say “no, that is not going to happen because it is Terrific Tuesday.”I always enjoyed talking with Hamis even if it was because he was asking for more proof of a transaction and he wanted the full spectrum of every transaction. For example, where did the funds come from to pay that balance? Show me proof of receipt of the funds; Prove payment with a copy of the front and back of the cancelled check or the bank activity sheet showing the wire transfer; Show me the credit card statement showing the payment and a zero balance. He did this with every transaction that caught his eye so he could provide Underwriting everything involved so there would not be a question from Underwriting. He tried to keep the work load down if he could. However, we now know how difficult it is to get today’s financing on a new home purchase.Please put a very positive comment in Hamis King’s personnel file. He is one of your BEST ASSETS! Your Company needs to keep Hamis and recognize his positive efforts. I called multiple times over a two day period. Long hold times then sudden disconnect, or call goes straight to elevator music for long hold and then prompts you leave a message. Did talk to someone on FB messenger and made an appointment for a call at 1300 the next day. No one ever called.I would be wary of doing business with any company with this kind of customer service.

They were helpful people when it came to explaining everything. A day right before signing, I was told that they could not proceed due to them not verifying important information that should of been verified from the beginning. Ended losing over $2000 dollars. Just because they missed verifying information.
