I’ve been bringing my vehicles here for years now. It’s always the best experience. Doug is awesome and the repairs are always done right. Even if they aren’t perfect they will make sure you are satisfied. Thanks for being in existence Zims.
Just dropped off my 87 Mercedes Benz SDL for repairs for the first time. I think its a good sign when the original owner of a this shiny red 1985 Mercedes has been taking their car here exclusively for over 15 years.
Zims Autotechnik is an absolute lifesaver for vintage Porsche enthusiasts, providing a selection of high-quality parts that breathe new life into these classics. I was met with exceptional customer service and expertise that far exceeded my expectations. The parts I ordered were meticulously crafted to exacting standards, ensuring a perfect fit and seamless integration into my 356. Zims Autotechniks dedication to preserving the legacy of these iconic cars is evident in the quality of their inventory, and I couldnt be more satisfied with the results.
Daren, my Porsche Cayenne Tech, is the most professional and thorough technician Ive met. I have 2 Cayennes and I am thankful to have found a technician who teaches you about your vehicle while hes working on it. Al, Aaron, and Doug, you all are the best! I cannot thank you all enough for your patience and thoroughness in providing support to your customers. I wish all Porsche Service Centers were as polished and detailed as Zims.
Called about a pre-purchase inspection and received some very helpful advice over the phone that affected our car purchase decision. Their honesty was well-received and much appreciated.
I was so pleased about the way my Porsche and myself were treated during my recent visit to Zim’s Autotechnic. The shop is unique in their innovative ideas and equipment to keep the P-cars running, particularly those vintage cars with the air-cooled and pushrod engines. The knowledge base within Zim’s of how to properly care for Porsches is simply unmatched in my 60-year experience of owning, driving and maintaining them. Zim’s Autotechnic shop is an excellent, large and well-equipped shop with extremely knowledgeable and experienced mechanics. The fact that Zim’s charges a fair price for their service is just an added incentive to return my car for all of its future service needs.
Poor experience overall. Wrote out a detailed list of items for service advisor to address. Then car sat for days before someone realized they had forgotten about the car altogether. Get a call from another service advisor. What did you need done? lol. Really? They were apologetic about the gaff and promised to get on it and communicate. Did not happen. Promised calls back were never made multiple times. Then it becomes apparent that the tech and the service advisor dont communicate since the tech isnt even addressing the issues written up in the list of items to address. They essentially had the car for three weeks, did not address half of the things I asked for and to top it off, forgot to order a little a/c control knob. Whats funny is that they are a parts distributor I guess. Again, apologetic. Will correct. Will get back to you sir. You guessed it. No follow up. No call. Im done with Zims. Better shops out there.
I have used this company for more than 10 years to service three different Porsche vehicles and a BMW. They have always done right by me. As a specific example, not too long ago I personally replaced a battery for my current 911 turbo. When I replaced it, the remotes that lock and unlock the door no longer functioned. I called the dealership and they told me I needed to bring it in and that it was going to cost me a large amount of money to re-program the automobile keys. I called Zimms and they gave me a work around over the phone that allowed me to reprogram the keys at no charge in which I accomplished in less than one minute. They have done lots of other work for me over the years including by way of example completely rebuilding a transmission. I have always thought that their work was excellent and that the price they charged was fair.
Did a Service A on my Mercedes, and the mechanic messed up my transmission fluid. Had to make 2 more trips to get that solved, and they had not topped off the other fluids per the service program (at least not the washer fluid). So might save myself $200 and just do a regular oil change next time. The car did make a noise that they were able to fix pretty easily and didnt charge for though, so thats a plus!
Waited literally 20 minutes to talk someone. Arrogant staff.Would rather pay dealer service prices than use them.But... Google maps showed me what turned out to be a worse shop (Excellence Auto Service) AND, more importantly, an outstanding shop (European Auto Service) about 2 miles away.Excellent diagnosis on my Mercedes sports car.
As an international flight attendant, my wife is very dependent on her car and keeping it in top working order. After returning from a very long all-night Santiago trip, the battery warning light was on when she started her car.. and unfortunately i was out of town. YIKES... major 911! her GLC300 takes a special/unique battery which i was able to eventually locate but the installation is complicated, which eliminates most places in the area. Ugh. via the phone, i asked the general mgr of Interstate Batteries who could install it. he told me quite a few of his customers had spoken highly of Zims. With me traveling and having never previously been a customer of Zims, i had a ton of anxiety about if they could even help her... and of course, what they would charge her (by all appearances coming in as a single woman without me). When Rebekah got to the shop she met Doug and the EARLIEST available opening wasnt until December!! She explained her circumstances and Doug thought for a moment and responded... if you can be here tomorrow morning at 8 we will work you in. Miracle of miracles... for both of us. It frankly HAD to be done no matter what they charged her and she was back the next morning before they opened as promised. They not only got her car in immediately, it was done in less time than expected and charged her a beyond-fair price. If someone does a favor for me im always grateful... but if you help my wife when im not there to navigate the situation, youve got a friend and customer for life. Sadly the Google Review scale only goes to 5 Stars... because in my book, i would have confidently given them twice that many Stars. I can assure you, im a customer for life... and next time well respectfully wait for the next available appointment. Thank you again for the excellent service.
Short version: I have used Zims for 11 years, but I will never take my car there again. They diagnosed a problem and I paid for the repair, but when I took the car back because the problem was not fixed, they told me there was nothing to worry about. They damaged my car while it was there and would not take responsibility.Complete Story: I have been using Zims since 2008 and if I would have written a couple of years ago, I would have also given five stars, but times change. I recently had my BMW in to diagnose smoke coming from my exhaust on startup. They had trouble finding the cause but finally told me it was the PCV valve, and that the hose to the air filter had broken, and asked if I wanted to change the ignition coils and plugs. They had just been changed 35,000 miles before. I declined. They called and said that the coils were bad, so I told them to replace them. When I picked up the car, it smelled like grease and body odor, but I didnt say anything. When I got home, I noticed that there was grease on the inside door handle, which I took photos of, and that the door handle had been damaged. I had to go out of town, but when I returned and started my car, a big cloud of smoke came out of the exhaust. I took the car back, told them about the smoke. They kept the car overnight so they could see it, and then told me that it was nothing to worry about. As I left the shop, I noticed a scratch on the steering wheel right where I put my right hand. I went back, told them about this, and also told them about the smell, and forwarded the photos of the door handle. The service manager told me she would call the owner. I received a call later that day telling me thanks for pointing this out and i could bring the car by and he would look at the scratch. He got an eraser and rubbed down the scratch. He told me there was nothing he could do about the door handle, and then gave me a story that if he put a dog in the car for 15 minutes, it wouldnt smell, so that they couldnt possibly be responsible for the smell. I had to leave the windows open for three days to get the smell out of my car. I also noticed that the clock had been reset to 24 hour time rather than 12, so I asked about this. In their favor, they did determine that the battery was failing. When I asked the price to replace it, they told me a price that was the same as three new car dealers. So why would I pay the same price as the dealer charges to take my car to a shop that I no longer trust, damages my car, and doesnt fix what is broken. I have since found a new service shop.
Top notch mechanics and a service advisor you can trust.I found them 10+ yrs ago when they serviced my old BMW 325i. Since then I go there exclusively for all my service including my 2012 BMW335i. All of my visits have been a positive experience.
If you own a porsche in the area than you most likely already know about this place! Ive brought my boxster here since I got it and honestly I can say they are incredible. Service is amazing, prices are competitive, and the staff is by far the the most knowledgeable friendly guys Ive ever dealt with. If youre new to the area and drive a porsche or BMW do yourself a favor and start coming here. (if you live in the area and you arent bringing your car to them... Start... Seriously... Right now start...)
I recently purchased a used car local to Zims, but from out of my home state (found over the Internet). They came highly recommended and did a very thorough pre-purchase inspection and major service on the car. Brian was very patient with my many phone calls, as I was nervous about driving a car sight unseen 400 + miles from the Dallas area back to my home. Their prices were very fair. I would recommend them without hesitation.
Brian gave me an estimate of $380 over the phone to change the slave and master cylinder including the labor, 91 318is. Called around and price was reasonable for a german specialty shop so I had it towed there. He called back and said it will actually be $690!!! Said, they underestimated the labor time. WHATEVER!! Was not willing to adjust the price or offer any form of discount for such a huge discrepency. And as expected of course tried to sell extra service like brake flush for $165 and new brake lines for $355 after I just got jacked for 2.5 extra hours of labor at $110/hour. Clutch is working fine now so I will say that but cant help feeling I got taken for a ride!
Ive driven older BMWs for many years, and have (unfortunately/mistakenly) taken them to various repair shops around the HEB area for the last few years.I was finally recommended (by Eagle Transmission--see my RAVE review on Eagle Transmission--they are THE BEST for non-european cars) to take my auto to Zims Autotechnik in Bedford.Id had repairs done on my (always older) european cars at various places, for what seemed (although, admittedly, not being a car-repair-expert myself) exorbitant prices. I assumed the prices were simply part of the deal for driving older european cars, BUT.....Once I started using Zims, I was, in all seriousness, AMAZED at their honesty, and the fact that their rates are SO low compared to general repair facilities.Im angry, though. Angry that I wasted so much money prior to discovering Zims. Theyre PASSIONATE about BMWs and Porches, and the care about (and respect) you, and theyre honest almost to a fault.WISH I COULD GIVE A 6-STAR RATING!!
Awesome place to get your European car fixed- got my Porsche up and running lickety-split!!! Thanks for getting me back on the road so quickly, Made it back to Missouri in record time. Thanks again.....Highly recommend
Zims recently added Steve Zink to their staff. He is an excellent Audi Technician who does the job the right way. I used to take my Audi to Steve when he had his own shop, Zinks Garage. He earned my business immediately with his honesty and flawless work. Steve has done a CV boot replacement / axle rebuild, clutch and flywheel replacement, and now both rear window regulators on my car. With Steve working there, Zims is the best place to take your Audi / VW for any service you need. You can expect fair pricing and your car always comes back repaired and clean.
Phenomenal customer service. I was looking to buy a pre-owned boxter. They gladly gave me information on previous maintenance and estimated cost of ownership.
Great service. They rebuilt a brake booter for us for a 1980 Porsche 911. Thanks again!
Amazing Service. Early BMW excellence.
Brought my 997s in. It was sounding terrible, turns out it was minor and Zim’s sent me home with no charge. Great people.
Job was done quickly and was fixed properly. Fairly priced and was returned earlier than projected. Highly recommend.
Impressed with the time it (didnt) take to get my driveshaft serviced. Got home when I got the call that it was done.
Great service can trust your Porsche of any model with Zims!!
Bought some brake discs for the 911, good prices and very knowledgeable staff.
Great place for a dealership alternative on a porsche! id highly recommend them to anyone!
Very professional. Reception area is clean and well maintained. Their work is top notch.
Theyve been servicing my Mercedes SUV for several years, over 200,000 miles.
Great service at a portion of the price! Ill go back for my next maintenance check.
I took my car here after sitting down three weeks in a shop that they couldn’t find the problem.Zims Autotechnik found the problem right away and it was repaired in three days thank you guys
