My wife (a Realtor in Charlotte for 31 years) & I have lived in our SF home for over 2 years now (28 months). In our case, the construction has been wonderful, super pleased. Even more importantly has been how SFH has quickly & efficiently handled warranty claims. Their proactive handling is wonderful - shout out to SFH & Mr. James Throgmorton. Thank you SFH - LOVING our home. Some of our friends in new homes not SFH have complained how difficult it is to get their warranty claims handled, so we really appreciate SFH.

Scot Felder was a huge disappointment! They build cheap homes with the bare necessities. Bought a house in Cedar Creek, the ugliest house and the cheapest house in the subdivision. No amenities and NO Quality in the workmanship. Toilets were chipped, caulking around cook top was chipped and cracked, molding around fireplace was not complete, chipped toiled in another bathroom, laundry room specked out for a sink but no sink, closets dont have space blocked out for shoes, everything in the kitchen is prefabbed, overall build is a joke! Builder should be reported to the BBB!Scot Felder BIG SHOTS should be ashamed and hang their head down low. Taking advantage of the consumer. You don’t see things in a walk through, you have to get in to see what a CUT RATE Builder they are! Sad day for any buyer.

The sales agent was awful once he got the earnest money. He suddenly forgot what he agreed too. Maybe thats why they but SF on every home. Construction team is hopeless. They do everything they can to not fix anything. Cheap materials and unqualified construction superintendents. Ive had over 30 warranty claims in the first quarter of living in my home. Unsealed windows, closet doors falling off, bad breakers, hvac ducts missing, all the drain clean outs needed replaced, and multiple tiles broken. Buying a Scott felder home is a huge mistake.

Our realtor convinced us to go with SF because it would feel like a luxury home. The implication was that the finishes would be far and above other builders. The finishes we were shown at signing were very nice. It is not what we received. They used the cheapest chalky contractor paint and it looks awful. (We asked multiple times that they leave what is left so we can do touch ups, and they did not.) The light fixtures used are the same ones you can get at any home store for $70 or less. The flooring is paper thin and therefore uneven and the windows are awful. I can hear a neighbor talking outside a block away and we feel every bit of the weather when we are near a window. They also installed already rotting fencing (they did replace). They made little effort to level our yard so walking in our yard you are likely to break an ankle.I dont have any reason to beleive that the house is not structurally sound, but it makes me wonder what else they phoned in that I can not see. They obviously cared very little about how it would feel to actually live in the home. They raised the price on us when the market was going down. They delayed letting us know until we were about 20 days out from close knowing that we would be stuck and have to accept it.I rarely received a straight answer during the sales process usually having to ask multiple times and rarely getting what I actually asked for. For example, they denied giving us plans with measurements because of copyright issues. I can go get blueprints from the county, but sure, make the customers life more difficult. Also, the house was not ready when we closed. They made little effort to clean. I am still finding paint spots on floors a year later. The final inspection had not been completed when we closed. When the inspector did come by after closing he was inside the home for a whopping 5 minutes, but that was still long enough to find a gas leak.I didnt go into this expecting perfection. I understand labor and supply chain shortages were very much a thing when our house was being built. I did expect transparency and honesty. I do not feel like we were given that much. To lower the quality of finishes and then charge us more is absurd, but they got away with it.If you do decide to go with SF, make them show you all finishes and force the contract to state the quality that you will accept. Otherwise, it is my experience that they will take advantage. Their deposit requirements are very high so that it is very difficult to back out. Proceed with caution and stay on top of them if you decide to move forward.

My review is about why I didn’t buy a Scott Felder home. We wanted to build our own custom design on one of their available lots. In order to do that, we were told we had to go under contract by putting down 6% and make all the architectural decisions such the type of garage and the fireplace. However, we had no idea what the total contract amount would be for things like flooring and the many other options. We were given a 125 page document to try to figure out ourselves what things would cost. When we read that the upgrade from standard flat paint to semi-gloss paint cost $6,000 we were done. It was impossible to calculate the flooring upgrades due to a myriad of confusing options. Surprisingly, our sales representative was not able to help. All upgrade decisions had to be made at the design center after we put down $32,000 to go under contract. If I am wrong about this, I invite the company or public to comment.

We love our beautiful Scott Felder home! Kevin, Autumn, and Lance were absolutely amazing, helpful, and professional. They went above and beyond to ensure our experience in buying a home was superb. We had such an incredible experience that three other family members also bought a Scott Felder home soon after we signed our contract.

Where to begin on how amazing Kevin was! From the start Kevin attend to what home we wanted. He was very professional and attentive to our needs in a home. Kevin is the type of person that will tell you how it is and he is very upfront with everything. He never once faulter on what to expect throughout the home being built and kept us up to date on what happens next. During this journey together I felt as though Kevin lead us down the road by the hand and made sure that everything meets expectations and if not more. My fiancé and I felt as though he had our best interest at heart and couldnt be happier with the experience that Kevin gave us! He is truly a great person and we are glad that are we are in this amazing home because of him! Scott Felder I hope you have more people like Kevin, he truly builds relationships and trust with the customer! As for Lance the builder who did the oversight! He is just as amazing! He was attentive to the concerns we had and from the start. He made sure that things were correct and made adjustments to our home! Even after the home was built, Lance still has the personal interest to make sure that things are working properly and the if we have any warranty tickets he personally follows up (we only have a few warranty tickets which is common)! Lance is a down to earth kind of kind and we felt we were bless to have both him and Kevin. Scott Felder is truly an amazing Home Builder and is worth every penny you pay for!

My wife and have purchased two Scott Felder homes. However, the great company built by its namesake is NOT the same company. It has not been since 2014. Disregard the years of awards listed since 2014. It takes years for the voting of this type to catch up with reality. The two homes we had that were built when Scott Felder owned it were great homes. We tried not once, but twice, with SIGNED contracts each time and earnest money deposited, to build another Scott Felder home,. That would be our third Scott Felder home. The first two were their higher priced and largest homes. We contracted for their highest priced home, the Montana. Both times they raised the price AFTER everything was signed. We HAD a contract!I know they counted on us to cave since we invested countless hours in the planning. We did not cave. And we had to chase down the refund of our earnest money on a signed contract. We had grounds to sue them for breach of contract, but being pragmatists, we knew they had a stable of lawyers ready to deny and delay any settlement for years. Therefore, we walked away and will NEVER do business with them again. Never. Their loss.

My recent experience with Scott Felder Homes marketing and online representative Cathy was exceptional.Great customer service means following best practices like valuing customers time, having a pleasant attitude, and providing knowledgeable and resourceful resources, but that you also take things a step further to exceed — rather than just meet — expectations. Cathy has checked all the boxes and I am most grateful.Thank You

This is our second home but first with Scott Felder. Since our house was already at the later stages we couldnt really get a lot of options but that didnt really bother us honestly. The quality is pretty much top notch compared to other builders here. Also went through a repair with their warranty service and that was also straightforward and solid.

We have oil spots popping up all over our home. We noticed this after the 1st year and they came and painted over the spots 2x for them to reappear. I emailed SF 2x first with no response then sent a follow-up email and here is their response: : I can understand the concern you are having in regard to the oil spots. We have found that over time the best remediation is to prime the spots using an oil base kills followed with paint. Unfortunately due to the tenure of your home as we have the recorded close date being 2019 that is far too many years past the one year we are unable to assist being past the one year warranty and since the recent manufacturing concerns one being paint being rather difficult to match we are unable to assist in this request. Please understand this does not pertain to a structural defect other than minor cosmetic oils in the original paint that can easily be remedied following the process stated in this email. If the paint was a known issue they should own up to it and not want me to prime my interior home and repaint it... Totally disappointed in SF. I think the response if very terse at best! !

We decided to make the move to Austin about 2 years ago. We came for a visit and finally decided on Rough Hollow, but that was just the beginning of the choices we had to make. After numerous visits to multiple builders we decided to go with Scott Felder as our builder. Along with what we felt was a superior product, the biggest factor in our decision was Keith Johnson who is their sales rep. He met with us multiple times and went above and beyond, walking us through different lots, placing cones to give us a true feel of how our house would be positioned and answering literally every question we had. Despite signing our contract weeks ago Keith still has taken every one of my calls even on his days off to answer my questions and answer questions I had related to the pre approval process for our mortgage. In addition to Keith, Jodi Baldwin the designer from the Scott Felder Design Center who assisted us in choosing all of our finishes not only spent numerous hours with us sharing her expertise and guiding us through an overwhelming process and never once pressured us into choosing more expensive finishes but in fact helped us save money when possible and still achieve the high end look we were going for. We are excited to break ground and see our finished home.

I cannot speak to the quality of their homes but I have had a few interactions with their construction managers and office staff and I am frustrated by their lack of professionalism. I live in a neighborhood close to their build site and they have been rude and even stopped me to complain about my driving even though they admitted that it was actually me that was driving fast or poorly. When I asked them about it, they said that I could not drive the road anymore despite the fact it is a public road and the fastest way out of my neighborhood.

It was just earlier this year that I made the decision to purchase my very first home. I had long known that this would be one of the biggest events in my life - a milestone to say the least - and I really wanted to make the right decisions throughout the process. After spending several weeks searching listings, visiting open houses and inventory homes, I had yet to find exactly what I was looking for.  I then decided it was time to take a look at what new home builders were doing in my area.  I met with multiple builders in a number of neighborhoods, liking much of what I saw, but had yet to find anything that really stood out in my mind, and for the RIGHT price.  While out house-hunting one Saturday, I walked into Gray Point Homes. I like their homes, but suddenly I felt very unwelcome because the sales consultant ignored me and began to get defensive when I asked questions about the quality of their homes. So I left, as soon as I’m about to get into my car, I see a bright-eyed woman in a pink blouse and a big smile walking out of a model home, it was Rhonda Hogue of Scott Felder Homes. I did not have that much knowledge on Scott Felder but started to read reviews from realtors who cited quality of construction and a good company reputation.I think the very first thing I noticed when walking into my first Scott Felder home was the visual appeal. The first thing in a home I usually gravitate towards is the kitchen—and I was not disappointed. There was also a very contemporary and modern open-floor feel. I walked into a Scott Felder model home with an understated elegance; a perfect balance of form and function. I found a builder that I wanted to move forward with!Rhonda Hogue has been professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. She listens to what I want, how I want, and even more importantly and impressive to me, she provides a refreshing candor throughout the process. She knows that I view my first home as an investment, that I only want to put money into selections that would appraise, and cautioned me when I strayed from that plan. We have run into a few snags in the construction process - a reality in any new construction - but Rhonda has been responsive, and an advocate on my behalf. Bradley Tighe has been extremely helpful in every way possible. Every issue I have had with the home big or small (usually small) he has heard me out, listened closely and made sure to take care of the issue at hand as best and as soon as he could. He truly helped curate the beautiful home we are happy to be living in. Both of these people have exemplified why Im glad I chose Scott Felder and they deserve to be commended for it.It is my pleasure to put together this letter of recommendation for Scott Felder Homes.  Its not every day that a consumer encounters a business that demonstrates such a high degree of integrity, generosity, and professionalism. My first home is a Scott Felder Home, and I’m extremely excited about that!

We have purchased a new home from Scott Felder Homes. During the buyers walk through, we noticed that the flooring was not well installed and was bumpy and uneven. When we discuss this issue with construction manager, we surprisingly learned that the flooring was not the thick and durable laminate we chose. We realized that at design center they attached vinyl plank on top of a wood board and showed it to us as if it was laminate. In order to resolve the flooring problem before closing, we had a meeting with the construction VP, Chris. He admitted that the flooring did have problem and apologized for the poor installation. We asked SFH to redo the floor with the laminate that we selected at the design center. At that point, Chris honestly told us that it wont be possible, because their supplier has never supplied laminate flooring to SFH.Since this flooring was not what we agreed upon, and the quality of installation was very poor, we kept asking SFH to redo the floor, or if they refused to, then we would like to back out of the contract with full deposit of $25,000 back. Chris said that he will pass our request to the leadership of SFH, and promised us that they will definitely provide us with some type of solution, and that there is no way they would make us close with the floor in its current condition. We could never have imagined what we received from SFH leadership next day was a simple, cold response to notify us that they would not redo the floor, and we would lose all of our deposit if we back out of the contract. Then we sent an email to the vice president of SFH, Mr. John Jones, and hoped to meet with him to find a better solution, but Mr. Jones replied that he refused to meet with us, and said that he would not change his decision. In his response, he deliberately ignored the poor installation of the flooring (He even said that he had gone through our new house and thought the floor was good!), but only emphasized that the flooring was the exact selection we made and signed off on. He also deliberately ignored the fact that in addition to the floor problem, that one of the A/C units, the Jacuzzi and many other problems were not yet fixed the day before closing, just blamed the delay of closing completely on us, and threatened that we were now in default and would lose our new house and all deposits in 7 days! In his lengthy letter, there was not even a slight sign of apology nor sincerity, but only ruthlessness and threats!I noticed that SFH posted their response to my review, but I don’t know how to reply. I put my response here. Now, from the response of Scott Felder Homes, everyone can clearly see how SFH shirk their responsibility and how they treat their customer. The problem we are trying to address was that SFH showed us samples of the flooring that are very misleading. They should not attach the thin vinyl plank on a piece of wood board and then showed it to us as a laminate floor sample. In the whole process of selection, no one ever even mentioned the term of “vinyl plank” to us; but also they put bold letters of “LAMINATE FLOORING” in the contract. As what we were told later, if SFH has never provided laminate, why would they do all these? This is their trickery at its best.In addition, if they had installed the vinyl plank in a professional fashion where the flooring was actually even and smooth instead of having visible bumpiness throughout the house in the first place, we would never have even questioned the flooring quality nor installation quality.SFH should be responsible for their extremely poor quality of flooring installation and take effective way to solve the problem, rather than just list the terms of contract and emphasize that this floor is our own choice. We spend nearly $440,000 to buy this brand new home from SFH, and we have every right to not accept this poorly installed floor. No matter what, we should not be forced to close on a home until the flooring problem (uneven/bumps) gets fixed.

I do love Scott Felders home, they have well planed home design and detailed finished home. However, I am trying to purchase new home in Caballo Ranch and there is lot of problem with Scott Felder. I do not know it is problem with this specific sale man or Scott Felders policy. First impression when I visit Model home was the sale man look down on me and does not want to sell home to me. Does ASIAN can not buy Scott Felder home? I visited model three times since we really like the model home they want to sell. However, the sale man out there does not want to show the home and does not want to deal with me... When my wife visit to see the model, he told my wife you can see the home 15 min since I have to leave due to another appointment then he ask my wife leave less than 5 min..... Also, I think business hour of model home ans sale office at caballo ranch is 10AM to 6PM but he never show up 10AM.... and he leave before 5 PM every time when I visit caballo ranch. The reason I was feeling that he discriminate me is When I was trying to make formal offer for model home he told me there is someone who want to buy this home and he did not want to deal with me.... Also, I stop by last week to get some estimation since my wife wants to build home as like model (because model home sold and we did not get a chance to make an offer!!!!). I made note to him (since other sale lady does not have detail information about option price and etc.......) to get estimation to build..... He never get me any information. If you are Asian please do not ask or offer Scott Felder home since they do not want to deal with you!!!!!!
