This review is for the Townhomes at Goodnight Ranch, Austin Texas. My experience went well compared to others in our community. I think buying a new home is a stressful thing regardless of the builder. I will say I bought during the pandemic where Avi had many unknown hurtles to overcome.Sales team had ok communication through the sales process, sometimes emails went unanswered for several days. After closing I was lucky, my warranty request were addressed in timely manner. Neighbors in my community did not have the best warranty claim experience. Many issues with water proofing, they finally after many attempts they used a peel and stick product to correct leaks, (should have been used from the start) Once all warranty concerns addressed the home really is nice! I think newer units have the problems worked out. If you decide to go with Avi bring your patience, grace and allow for delays.
I had a wonderful experience working with AVI Homes as the builder of my condo! Debbie, the sales agent, was so sweet and caring and very responsive to any questions or concerns I had. I also worked with Dalton on my final walk through and he worked hard to make sure all my last minute touch ups and repairs were completed perfectly and on time for closing. Overall, it was a great experience!
The warranty department needs some serious help. We were able to get a few key issues resolved shortly after closing, but it’s now been 16 months and little has been done to fix what’s left on our list despite repeated and organized cries for help from us and the surveyed 58% of our community experiencing major issues. I appreciate the modern finishes for the price point, but we have a contract for these warranty items, which Avi has breached by allowing them to go unaddressed for so long.
Please be careful when evaluating these ratings. Many of the positive ratings are from AVI Homes employees which I think speaks to their ethics and business practices. Specifically the 5 star ratings of Crystal Giglio, Crystal McFadden, Trista Nixon, Dalton Saucedo, and Alice Mateyko (all AVI employees). In fact, Alice is the president of AVI Homes! I have reported these reviews for conflict of interest so they may be removed by Google by the time you are reading this.As for my personal experience with AVI, it has hardly been positive. That is why I was surprised when they emailed me and asked me to leave them a Google review.Three days after closing on my new home I reported water intrusion and 15 months later they are still trying to address it. On that same day I reported unpainted stucco on my balcony and that also hasnt been addressed. The stucco is a tiny issue but it goes to show you no matter how big or small the issue is, AVI will do their best to drag their feet and not address their poor craftsmanship.I could go into more detail but I think the fact that they are asking their own employees to give positive ratings instead of actually addressing the issues with our homes is telling.
This is no credibility home builder. They do not build the home correctly. The ceiling fan and hosing material are falling. The floors popped up because the installer waited the gluing mud dried then placing the tile on top of the solicited mud. The house is shady built and not sealed. The air and heating ventilation if painted over. They claimed they have one year and two year inspections are not true , they do not follow what they said and do not fix the warranty claims.
Overall: This company was a nightmare to work with from beginning to end. We bought in Easton Park.Sales Rep: Our sales rep, Lora Spicer, had no clue what she was doing. During the building process, we had to micromanage every step of the build. As first time home buyers, this was less than ideal and incredibly stressful. We had to route questions through Lora, to our contractor. However, it would take us weeks to get a response from her. We had to constantly follow up and mostly just go to her office to get anything answered.Building Process: We had a ton of issues with sloppy paint jobs, crooked installation of windows, poor wood work, etc. Again, we were having to micromanage this entire process so we would go in and take pics of everything almost once a week, to ensure a quality build. Isnt this the job of the contract manager?Close: We were nearing closing (which was delayed about 6-8 months) and still had a long list of outstanding issues that had not been dealt with. A close date was set and we were refusing to close until our items were handled and AVI was just dragging out the process. We were arguing with these people up to the DATE of closing, we finally got in touch with someone at the head of the operation who was able to make actual moves we had been asking for.Warranty Items: Weve been in the house about a year and a half and are having major communication issues with our warranty items. They just dont care about you unless youre a brand new customer with a check. Its been over a YEAR since some of our warranty items have been submitted and still remain unanswered. From talking to others in the neighborhood, this is a common theme with this builder.Dont waste your time with these people. Shop around and find reputable builders with quality builds and rock solid communication. And if youre wanting a modern home build, these people are not your stop.
My daughter bought a home from Homes by Avi and opened a service request in early June 2013 to get a major leak in the shower fixed. It is now 9/23/2013 and she is still waiting to get the problem fixed. Their customer service has been non-existent, they lack courtesy and are certainly not concerned about customer satisfaction. There is no follow through and they did not keep their commitments to complete the job on the time schedule that we agreed to. I would strongly recommend against purchasing a home from this company.
Worst experience ever! From the beginning there have been issues with design and electrical and so on. I had to force them to close on the house 4 months after they told me the house would be ready. If that process wasnt frustrating enough, trying to get them to fix outstanding warranty items has been a nightmare. I have outstanding items from before I closed on the house.Dont get me wrong I love my home but I should not have to wait a year to get electrical issues fixed or other items part of the warranty or HOA required items that the builder signed off on. They tried to get out of installing tree lights on all the houses they built in Easton Park and it took me over 6 months to get them to agree to put HOA required exterior lights per the guidelines which they signed to do. I am coming up on the 1 year mark and I still have two holes in the side of my house where they told me my lights would be installed.Everyone is so nice but that is for their bottom line. Once they get their money they dont care about you. You are just a project to them.
I have a friend who is currently going through so much with their new construction home with leaks and roofing issues. This has been an issue since they’ve moved in, and it still has not been resolved. They have been in the home for 2 years. 2 years of leaks and damages in a new home. I hope AVI will resolve this with the various home owners who are dealing with we issues in the community.
Don’t buy the units at Goodnight Ranch. They were built with no front porch and every times it rains I have water in my house. AVI says a little water is to be expected with storms. I must have been born in a barn if they want me to believe that. My trim and the entire door have been replaced once already. And now the door is rotting with mold at the bottom. They’ve known about this problem for months and they keep building all the same units down the street and they are all leaking too. I have to go buy 3 storm doors for all the doors this week. A thousand dollars I don’t have. They admit to a problem but refuse to fix it. All my neighbors will be getting storm doors soon. Unbelievable
We love our AVI duplex. Its modern, medium-density, pedestrian-friendly, New Urbanist design was exactly what we were looking for. The sales staff made home buying (a first for us) a much less stressful experience than I think it would otherwise have been. Lora, our AVI rep, has been great!
I bought a pre-construction townhome from AVI and it was a great experience. They were very good about keeping me up-to-date on the progress of construction, and made the closing and moving in process smooth and easy. I love my new home and would do it all again!
These houses are good at the moment, but be careful 5 years down the road. Insurance adjusters says their flaws in their design. Exterior grout on stone cheaply done interior adjustment or shifting in drywall becomes severe.
AVI was the absolute worse builder I have ever dealt with. Alice who is the president of the company is plain evil and will threaten you with a lawyer if you dare to challenge their contractors with the poor work that is being done to your home. I will also warn you that Lora who is the home sales consultant is absolutely clueless when it comes to her job. She will not give you the proper legal paperwork to sign during the building process. She’s nice in person, but unfortunately isn’t very good at her job and it’s sad that she is the one you go to when things go bad. I could go on with the heartache and sleepless nights that AVI has put my husband and I through, but it will literally take so much of my time explaining in detail the horrible things they did and put us through. Please don’t trust them as your builder and if you do decide to go with them be prepare to deal with incompetent folks. Alice the president of AVI is the worst and doesn’t care about her buyers. Alice is all about the money and sitting back at her desk hiding behind her lawyers. She’s basically a very weak individual who won’t do the right thing. I’ve talk to many buyers who also have said the same thing about her. I’m heartbroken for all the buyers that Alice has put through HELL because she’s to self-absorbed to make a respectful phone call to buyers who are having major issues with their contractors. BEWARE OF AVI HOMES!!!!
This company promised my clients the roof issues had been remedied and yet they continue to have issues every time it rains. When they show them the wet sheetrock, they again promise they’ll have something done, yet the fixes are just patches until the next rain. DON’T trust this company!!
Sales person was not helpful and did not even get up from desk to show the availabiity of lots etc and did not know anything about what was listed as available on the online websites. Kept saying theres nothing available right now. Reminded her that we were on waitlist that was mentioned the first time I visited this site and she apparently had her own handwritten list that did not even have my name after visiting the site several times and was told I was on this made up waitlist! Not a good experience to buy my first home for my son...he was discouraged after this experience.
The entire Homes by Avi team is incredible and communicative from start to finish! They truly care about the buyers and bend over backwards to make sure the home buying experience is magical!
My family has done business with them. The work is poor in quality and though the company has attempted to fix the problems, leaks have continued. Today another large leak, yet they claim to have fixed it.
The lack of response from this builder on existing homes is horrible. We have spent 10 months trying to get warranty service and have been pushed off multiple times.
They dont know what theyre doing. We almost walked away from the deal and now are wondering if we made the right decision to go ahead and purchase our home. If you are looking to buy in Mueller be wary of their product.
Great buying experience...Sue rocks ;) They are offering nice upgrades in Buda and San Marcos. Get there fast the houses are going quickly.
Impossible to contact. Automated phone reroutes itself in circles and web submissions are ignored.
Amazing staff and amazing people will recommend 10/10!
Avoid AVI homes at all costs.
Horribly unprofessional and entirely unaccountable.
