Predatory Business TacticsOur dryer stopped working so I called around. Sears quoted $140 for diagnosis. Expensive but we needed it done quickly. We had just gotten home from a weeks long hospital stay and had piles of dirty laundry.The technician took about 15 minute to diagnose it. Said 3 parts needed replacement and that it would cost me $430! Mind you I paid $100 for the dryer, it was a quick diagnosis, the repair sounded simple enough (just unscrewing a few parts and replacing with new ones) and he said he had the parts on him.I declined and asked him for serial numbers. Bought the parts myself ($15 total for aftermarket) and fixed it in an hour. A trained technician could have done it in 20 minutes.Sears Appliance Repair is using a tactic that abuses the customer’s time and fear of sunk costs. The diagnostic fee of $140 is non-refundable so if you decline an outrageous $430 quote then you’re still out $140. Sears knows enough people will feel the pain of the sunk cost and will be desperate enough for a working appliance that they will just agree to an absurd fee.Embarrassing.I called Sears Appliance Repair to speak to a supervisor or whoever coaches the technicians to come up with their quotes. Not to get the tech in trouble but to get some answers after getting fleeced for $140. Got connected to a foreign call center that couldn’t tell me much.Also asked Sears to email me the technicians report but they never did.All the people I talked to in person or on the phone were nice.

Received a call from Donald when the morning began to set timing expectations. Prompt arrival once given arrival window. Received called once work was done to discuss next options. Price for the dishwasher fix was more than a new one so moved on.

Mr. Neal and his trainee colleague did a wonderful job, arrived at the expected time, fixed the issue and gave me a few tips on how to care for my appliances. Would recommend to a friend! I was WFH and didn’t get the chance to offer them some water or beverage but I hope they get well deserved paid for their good service!

It is amazing what a dedicated person demonstrates and takes pride in his work. The Tech did just that and quickly repaired what was identified. My family has been Sears Customers since the 1960’s and will continue- quality products and it requires quality repair by great Technicians.

Recved way too many emails advising, confirming, double confirming. recved same texts multiple times. also tech texted and called and left vm. requested mutiple times to have wife as contact as she set the appointment up.stayed home and sat here. and after being barraged with way too many confirmations.......the tech did not show up. claims no one was home (which I was) and did not bother to call.then came another barrage of emails ......what a clown show.we have another appointment now, and tech is already texting me for an appointment on 1120.

The Technician was incompetent. He claimed that there was no problem with the Dryer and that I needed an electrician and the electrician found no problem. And rest the Dryer now Im stuck with 2 bills one for the electrician and one for the worthless sears Technician

Sears ordered parts. They no call / no showed for three scheduled appointments to install. I even talked to an actual person to schedule one of the appointments. Now they claim they did the work they never did and are trying to collect the money.Update: After almost a year and so many phone calls, we got it sorted out and got some of our money back. Not star changing, but at least they eventually made it ok.

Everything went well once the repairman arrived, but everything leading up to that was unsatisfactory. We originally scheduled the repair for Thursday, June 6 and I received texts confirming that (including on the morning of the 6th), but the website had the service call listed as for Friday - so it was moved without consulting us. The window was 8-12, and the website initially had the estimated arrival time as 10:15. Then it moved to 11:20, then 12:50, then 2:15, then 4:20. He finally arrived after 4pm. So we ended up waiting around the house all day. When I tried to contact someone to understand the timing, it was nearly impossible to reach anyone until I finally called in as a new customer and only then was able to reach a human. It makes no sense that you all could be so far off the estimated time of arrival. If there were customer visits ahead of us, as the experts, you should have a better feel for how long they will take so you dont string us along all day. Also, your website sucks. it is embarrassingly simplistic and not user friendly. You need to upgrade it.

Came out at 10:30 am and charged expensive dishwasher repairs for a $40 dollar part (gasket). Dishwasher still leaking and issue is unresolved. They apparently have escalated it to another technician (since the first one couldn’t resolve after me calling him back 3 times) but I’ve yet to hear from anyone at Sears by end of day.

Technician that was sent out did not address the problem, although he acknowledged that the evaporator coil on the A C unit was badly leaking. Home Warranty Service deserves a 0 star rating based on their performance in this matter. I will not be renewing the contract when it comes due and would not recommend them to anyone.

Tom came and very quickly diagnosed the problem with our cooktop. The part was ordered and shipped directly to our house. Donald came and installed the part and made sure everything was correct. Both Tom and Donald were very friendly and professional. Weve used Sears Home Services for all our appliances no matter the make or model for years and have always been pleased.

Sears never corrects the number they send text updates to for me but that’s my complaint. They’ve come out twice from my home warranty company now and have been very professional and honest with me. Their expertise in their area is obvious. And they’re great with my dogs.

Mohammed, the tech Sears /Cinch sends on our Home Warranty plan, takes great care in giving excellent service. We trust him. He offers excellent service. He called the warehouse to check on the arrival of replacement motor he had ordered and texted us when it arrived.Unfortunately, Sears Cinch Home Services did not schedule him to install for an additional 8 days. With Sears/Cinch, Our a/c was off for 23 days.Sears/Cinch does not have a system for timely repairs.

I made an appointment on March 21 to fix my refrigerator. However, after I waited more than 2 weeks, nobody showed up. I had to throw all of my groceries. I wasted my money, groceries, and time because of Sears terrible services. I need to fix my refrigerator, so I made an appointment, but I am very disappointed with your service. Did I wait for 2 weeks for nothing? Is this the service of Sears for customers? I would no longer like to buy from this place if your service for customers like this.

The repairman admitted that he didnt have an operable temperature meter to check the ovens temperature, so he was inconclusive in his evaluation of our oven, but he added that HE HAD TO BILL US FOR HIS SERVICE. He had the gall to suggest that we use the oven again to see if it would cook properly. Thats why we called for the service visit, and we didnt need him to tell us we need to use the oven again. He also said we should buy an oven thermometer to check the ovens temperature ourselves. The repairman said he had 5-years experience, but I feel that his experience was that of screwing customers. In that he is very good.

I would give 0 stars if it let me. Previous technician had temporarily fixed my fridge but suggested to replace a part. Second appointment the part was changed and not it’s broken again now I’m supposed to wait 2 weeks to have them come fix their mistake find another place

Our repair technician was very professional and efficient. The repair was done quickly. Ricky was friendly and helpful. He also instructed on how to prevent further issues.The only thing we didn’t like was the 8:00-5:00 window for the technician to come.

The technician seems not very knowledgeable. He started unusable my washer and he was dropping the parts on the floor, he wasnt careful. When he told me what he thought it was. I decided not to have him repaired my washer. I then started to put some parts back, but he left the wire that goes around the gasket inside the washer. He also took two the strews that hold the cover of my washer. He also charged more than the Sears person told me when I scheduled the appointment. Overall very unsatisfied with the service.
